The devs could have blocked Linux players from playing but they didnt.

To be honest, I think hey just couldn't be bothered enough. It's a very niche pocket of players that won't make a dent. It worked on Linux? Likely a happy coincidence.

I think they would prefer to not have it working - not least because their terrible Win-kernel level anticheat gets a middle finger under Linux - but again, the efforts to ban it is probably more than it's worth for them.

Doubt, I think it's a conscious decision by the devs to allow Linux users to play...the same thing happened with Fragpunk (another game developed by Chinese devs). They also promised to add Linux support for Delta Force in the future. Western devs are trash adding kernel level anticheat blocking the few Linux users while their game is riddled with cheats regardless.

If they stated it explicitly = sure. Huge kudos in that case. I'm just not aware NetEase said anything like that.

Knowing the US government then it's only a matter of time until they ban China from using Windows altogheter, so it's good that people are thinking of not putting all their eggs in one basket.

Hold your horses there. Linux isn't end-all, be-all. The recent scandal when Russian Linux kernel contributors were ejected out of the team is very telling. Politics trump common sense (some pun intended).

For those that don't know anti cheat engines do not work well with linux and most devs outright block linux users. The devs of this game made a conscious decision to not block linux users with their anti cheat.

What I mean is a "conscious decision to ignore". Same thing, different framing. Because a decision to block would imply the need for action, while the decision to ignore means .. they can just do nothing.

True that, if the US government influence Linux too much (by banning a significant portion of the worlds population) then those people can come togheter and create their own fork (just like how a lot of "sanctioned" countries are doing business with each other).

Still does not work for Intel Arc cards like mine. ♥♥♥♥ on my GPU all you want, but I haven't had any issues with any other games for the past year until this.

After the last Christmas update, I feel like the game randomly freezes. (under Linux OS)

After the update, I can no longer play on Linux. Oh well. Have fun without me. I'll be on my Oculus Quest. Never Windows!
