Mantis is scary (damage comparison)

It's genuinely surprising how much damage she does.

Going by the numbers on the official website, Mantis' left click does 50 damage, with a fire rate of 2.5x per second. She can headshot, of course. It's a projectile but it's a fast one, with a speed very similar to Hawkeye's arrows. This puts her at 125 dps.

Hela, which is almost universally considered to be overpowered, does 70 damage with 2 rounds per second. She headshots as well, and she's hitscan. However, Hela does have falloff, beginning at 18m and and dropping to 70% at 30m. So she does 140-98 dps depending on range.

Yep. Your kind, gentle healer does just a little bit less damage than the overpowered scary lady everyone wants nerfed - if the fight is within 18m! At longer distances, Mantis will actually outdamage her in a direct comparison, if she can actually land her shots.

Oh yeah, and Mantis gets 20 shots before reloading while Hela gets 8.

I'm not trying to say she's better in combat than Hela or anything, that's just silly. The 70 damage means Hela kills you in two headshots instead of three which is important, and being hitscan is a big deal too. But dang, that's good damage for a support character.

it's balanced out with everyone on the other side trying to kill you first, having almost no extra mobility, and the fact that you are the healer sort of halves your dps practically since you're doing that most of the time. still though mantis is my favorite healer so far, and that season skin omg

The problem is also exacerbated by her passive encouraging spray and praying at your opponents faces.

She's a hot healer, you look at someone click and go back to shooting people in the face to get back orbs..... and use line of sight.

I generally don't like playing her because I suck at landing headshots for some reason and struggle utilizing her orbs efficiently due to it, but I've seen others play her well and she's a beast.

yeah i've been playing her just now and noticed she is pretty fast, still though she's grounded, no partial flying, double jumps, dashes or teleports. just a bit faster with her healing buffs. i'm use to playing jumpers/flyers so it's a little different for me (i just started yesterday)

She's a pocket hela and could dog walk dive heroes. People also underestimate how a healer that could output dps and heals at the same time. You're constantly harassing their backline while putting out heals that's why she's paired with Luna that's another extra dps just pounding at the enemy backline while healing at the same time.

She is best char in the game. She is right up there with Hela as most needing of a nerf currently.

I actually think the game is crazy good at how balanced every character is right now.. you can pretty much play as any character and not feel at a disadvantage

I mean, it's not like anyone puts Hela above Mantis on the tier list, they're generally both considered to be S.

One of the things that makes Hela so good is her Ultimate, which is both a free escape that gives you 1000 hp instantly as well as dealing a boatload of damage and generally getting a couple kills. Mantis's ultimate is good too of course, I'm just saying it's not just the LMB that makes the character good.
