Can't Get Out Of Gold 1 But Multiple Friends Are GM
Why do I suck so bad?
None of them have any advice either other than "just play better? idk" like it's so simple and the easiest thing in the world to be that good and get to GM. Like being GM is just as simple as "lol just be good at video games." and if you can't then you're actually HORRIBLE.
And they're solo q, too.

The hell.

How?

I play with the team, I group up, I know how to play the characters I play, I know when to back off, when to push, when to engage, I ping when someone is flanking, I'm not stupid, I don't throw, I don't trickle in, I don't rush in 1v6, I use my cooldowns appropriately, I defend Strategists, I look after the backline...

Is it because I can't aim that good?
Is that literally it? Because I can't hit headshot after headshot after headshot, have perfect tracking and hit every flickshot? Because I can't perfectly lead my shots with Rocket to hit a Thor 100 feet away in the head and melt him? Because I can't obliterate people with Luna Snow with headshot after headshot?
Because I can't play characters like Hela or Hawkeye?
Because I'm old?

Seriously, I don't get it. Why am I such godawful garbage?

It's a dice roll. End of discussion.

Very true, most of time. Even a bad player can get "stuck" in a higher rank, and the other 5 will carry him indefinitely. Classic example: Mercy in Overwatch.

I just feels so insanely inferior, like I'm just putrid trash in comparison and shouldn't even be playing at all. They make it seem so simple, like the only thing you need to do to be that good and get that high is to "just git gud lol". Like they're just born good and there's nothing I could ever do to achieve it.

You have to remember that being good at games it like any other profession. The more time you put in, the better you will be.

The people that good, play video games for a living. While the rest of the randoms are at work all day, doing whatever it is they do, the best players are on games all day. When they're not playing, they're studying the games mechanics. They spend hours in the test rooms, finding out how you can min/max every single thing. They adjust sensitivity in every game, adjust their cross hairs, learn how to animation cancel. They adjust things like graphics and will actually turn them down to avoid seeing certain animations that might stutter their screen.

They do it for work. They do it for a living. You and I might spend 10-20 casual hours on video games in a week, they spend 40-60 and play hardcore all the time.

It's a different world, there's always a bigger fish than you. Some players are naturally talented and can hit the highest ranks easily. Some have just put in the time to become good. Some people won't hit certain ranks, by nature of how they approach video games. Don't worry too much about it.
Literally all I do is play video games. It's all I've ever done.
These friends haven't even played Rivals longer than me. They joined, played QP till they got to level ten, joined comp and then got to GM in like 40 games, when it took me 15 just to get out of BRONZE.
According to them they just won and won and won and won, got competent teammates, everyone communicated and they frequently hard carried.

No matter what I do, no matter how hard I sweat, I can't make an impact in any match and I never get MVP. It always goes to someone spamming ankhs as Moon Knight or getting kill after kill on the backline as Psylocke, or Dr Strange obliterating everyone with his E.

I also can't stop getting teammates that are just flat out STUPID. I have NO idea how they got into Gold because they are TERRIBLE. They are CARDBOARD.
REFUSING to group up, playing STUPID picks that DON'T WORK.
Thor rushing in to 1v6 the entire enemy team when we haven't even caught up to him yet and he immediately blows up and spams "need healing!" when we're miles from him because HE WON'T GROUP UP.
AAAAAAAAAAHHHH

Don't worry, they do all this in GM too

and you said it yourself

"Like being GM is just as simple as "lol just be good at video games." and if you can't then you're actually HORRIBLE."

Seriously, this simple fact that some people can't get over this blows my mind.

♥♥♥♥!!!
Bet you really fun at party's your the type of guy who think he's a realist and hard but you just sound like sad edgy little kid acting like what he seen on the TV is how adults should talk
I'm a little confused, you talk about defending the backline and helping the supports, but then you go and list that you're playing that roll as rocket or Luna.

Assuming you're a support player let's clear some things up.

1: Rocket is not someone who should be shooting more than 15m away. Let alone a Thor 100m. He has the literal lowest damage output of all characters in the game. He is a heal bot with a rez on a 45sec CD and insane mobility. His guns only damage is within 10m. He looses more than 50% of his damage literally at 11m.

2: Luna is a very very very aim intensive hero. If you cannot aim well, you should never pick her. Mantis as well, they both require headshots for their kits. I highly recommend you pick up C&D instead of Luna.

What I put in the OP is just examples.

I play everything, depending on what is needed.
It's hard to main a role in this game because a lot of the time you'll want to play Strategist, but two people have already picked Strategist, and there's only one Vanguard, so you're forced to do that instead.
I play Strategist the most, because most people don't want to play it, so usually there will only be one and I'm not going to be the guy that goes third Duelist.

I defend Strategists as every role. I defend the backline as every role if I'm able to without sacrificing the frontline.

i mentioned Luna as an example but I barely play her, I just don't enjoy playing her, she's not fun to me.
I know Rocket isn't meant to be shooting at a distance. I know, Rocket sucks. I barely play him in comp because he sucks.

He's bad compared to the other Strategists. Why pick Rocket when I can make my team immortal every 2 minutes with Luna or Mantis?
He's just not as good as everyone else.
His damage is worse, his healing is worse, his ult is worse, and his revive doesn't make up for it.

He sucks.

if you think his revive doesnt make up for his lower healing you have terrible teammates or just terrible strategists

It shouldn't have to make up for lower healing lmao. That's dumb. If his healing is so bad that he needs a revive to make up for it then something is wrong. It doesn't even make up for it, really.

In the scenario that someone dies and gets revived by his beacon, I could have just kept them alive instead if I was playing another Strategist, and instead of having to walk back from the beacon, they'd be right there still contributing.

So, for example:
My team is taking heavy damage. I'm trying my best to keep them alive as Rocket, but his heals are slow and bad in comparison to the others, so Moon Knight dies. Then Moon Knight has to walk back to the fight from the beacon, and because he's not there for the team fight for a bit, my team gets overpowered and we lose. Wow, what a great help that revive beacon was!

In comparison:
My team is taking heavy damage. Moon Knight gets low. I press shift as Loki and they all get healed up fast. Or I just focus fire Moon Knight as Loki and he gets healed up fast.
Or I hold left click on him and spam bubbles as Jeff.
Or I burst heal everyone with Adam and spread the damage across them.
Or I burst heal everyone with Dagger's dome and wall.
Or I ult as Mantis or Luna (who get their ults pretty fast)
And nobody dies.

Rocket sucks. If you think you're doing great on Rocket, you'd be doing more for your team as literally any other Strategist in the game. He's the worst Strategist, and I have a feeling he will always be the worst. It will become way more apparent when they add more Strategists to the roster, and then you will almost never see a Rocket.

Mossy Pond 5 de jan. às 3:06
Rocket? Luna Snow? You're playing healer man, It's easy to play in a way that's throwing the game and feel like you're playing well as healer. If I had to guess, that's probably what you're doing if you can't get out of gold. Healing to get out of gold is foolproof nobody knows how to do it down there so if it's not working for you, well, it's time to examine what it is you're really doing in a match
Remember lag, desync, screen res, screen refresh rate, mouse dpi, are all factors ontop of the human component
