Expectations from a Healer
I play healers and tanks. In paladins a healers main objective was to keep the tank alive, and the flanks used to hunt us healers down. If a flank did manage to break through our front line and avoid our flank, as a healer i was expected to survive for 4 to 6 seconds max, inform the team so they could fall back, No way i was expected to actually fight a flank.
So like in this game , other than healing and running away, what do people expect from healers.

Well a good team collapses on the flank, the healer is just supposed to tag then CC and/or out sustain with the other healer till help comes. You can outplay a flanker and kill them yourself but that's a drawn out duel which means your team isn't getting support from the front lines but you can't fight back like in overwatch.

With Luna and Mantis you can mark and CC them. Usually the team picks up on it. I don't have enough experience with other characters to give you options.

If they don't and you're just getting repeatedly shut down you're probably not going to win that game anyway. So pick a different character or role and try to find way to have some fun with it.

But in OW and Rivals I kill flanks with Support all the time. It is the name of the game.

Actually I often flank with support to kill enemy back line.

Rivals differs from OW currently as almost every Healer puts out good DPS. When OW released no healer did great DPS, Ana was like the first real offensive healer.

Tanks on the other hand, OW had better Tanks, both suffer from not enough Tanks and Healers on release though. Which is just a really bad move, too few options leads to boredom which leads to players not wanting to play that role in a game where each role is nearly equally important.
you have brain rot from a game that's designed around tightly defined roles. you get better value if you focus your heals on the DPS first; they die the fastest and can disrupt the enemy more. everything else depends on you team comp and you have to learn to adapt to it. if iron fist is constantly riding you, that might be a you problem. learn to position or switch to another hero.

healers are already pretty overtuned to where half of them can easily duel dedicated flankers

in this game you shouldnt be purely focused on healing you should be fighting and providing cc based on who you play
mantis for example should be able to 1v1 most characters who dive her as long as they simply arent better than you are
