Most PC players don't want that because of aim assist on controllers. And most console players don't want it either because they think the PC space is full of cheaters. Probably never going to happen.

It's actually better that Crossplay is not in competitive.
It keeps PC and Console at a far enough distance that one side cannot complain about the other between K&M vs Controller Aim-Assist when it comes to climbing in ranked.
It's fine as-is to keep it to quickplay, vs AI, and seasonal event modes like the Jeff Splatoon thing.

lame. after finally getting my friends together we found out that we can't play ranked because one person is on PS5 and everyone else is on PC lol. What's the point of having normals crossplay if when we get to ranked it's not allowed.

Because a test of skill, which is what ranked is, shouldn't be decided by who has a built-in aimbot and who doesn't.

Proposed Solution: Implement a separate crossplay ranked mode with a simplified scoring system. Instead of traditional tiers such as Platinum, Diamond, or Gold, use a cumulative leaderboard based on performance. For example, players gain +2 points for a win and lose -1 point for a loss, similar to the system in *Eternity and Up*. Additionally, ensure the leaderboards are divided by platform to maintain clarity and fairness across consoles.

I think the only working solution for ranked crossplay (that I also wanted since launch) is an option where PC players only can play crossplay if they use a gamepad.
While this option is enabled, all mouse and keyboard inputs are ignored, therefore you can play ranked crossplay.
