PC restarts mid game randomly
So I do not know why it happens, I thought it was outdated drivers, or cables since I got new desk, but no, downloaded new drivers and reattached cables, and it still does it randomly, and it's not like my pc is loud or really hot, so I am clueless, can anyone help me out?

Restarting is usually due to overheating or bsod or even power issues.

Blue screens can be any number of different problems and would have to look at your windows logs to see if there are any listed and causes.

Overheating can easily be found by running a program that shows you the temperature as your playing and then looking up your acceptable ranges when under load.

Power issues could be due to bad wall outlet or a faulty surge protector, or bad PSU, or a PSU that's not rated for what hardware you have in your PC.

Problem is I don't have have blue screen, it just goes black and restarts, first time lights on my keyboards went off, every other time after it did not. I played the game for like 40 hours since launch before it happen for first time. I checked and at max it goes to (38c in menu) 49-52c so it's nowhere near to what i have playing heavy games like baldur gate 3 at 62-65c. So I don't know the issue, I do not have restarts outside playing marvel rivals so It's game issue, I'm pretty sure. Found thread on reddit with same or worse issues since making this.

Only thing I notice restarts* have in common it's only during discord calls, which is weird cause I played a lot with friends 'til now.

Go start menu, type in event viewer, and let it load as admin. Any error which ends up causing system restart is CRITICAL error, and you can see error codes related to issue. Google that code, and text associated with it.

all critical errors is from source "41 Kernel-Power", weirdly I have 2 from october and 1 from september, I don't remember but all other are from this month. Not sure what is error code... I am not too knowledgeable in this area.

41 Kernel-Power is PSU related issue most of time, which could be caused by many things, including GPU drivers, "bad" power from wall (ie: not getting "normal" 230V in europe from wall), and such issues. First off make CLEAN install on your GPU drivers (Choose custom option when upgrading GPU drivers, and make sure to remove previous drivers entirely).

Next fix I'd do (and recommend to do after every windows update), is use command prompt, and use "sfc /scannow" (no quotes). This will attempt to fix corrupted system files, which can cause issues at times. Use command twice if it did fix something, as it'll check if all fixes were applied as intended.

After those, check your system overall MAX power draw, and compare that to your PSU. Let's say you have 500W PSU, and your entire system draw is at 400W max. If your PSU efficiency is less than 80%, exceeding 400W can cause issues due to PSU.

i did both already, that much I know, last one I do not know how to check, where is that?

Started having this problem yesterday. Upgraded to newest drivers, removed all OC, tried all 3 power modes, and slowed RAM clocks. Still full PC reboot with Black Screen when trying to load into match. 5900x 4070ti 750w PSU

a game causing pc to restart is crazy
fevez Dec 30, 2024 @ 6:16am
i had this problem with rtx 4090 where my screens go to black screen and i had to restart pc , it was a burned adapter maybe ur graphic card is rip :c
nikk🐢 Dec 30, 2024 @ 9:09am
(I have/had exact same issue with black screen, but nothing seem to be burned) So since making thread haven't had a restart yet, but I notice few things that might be at cause. So I turned off discord overlay cause this game for some reason blocks inputs outside of game so I can't mute myself with a button. Turned off hardware acceleration in discord as well, cause well I notice that it was only during vc with friends so perhaps that was issue, as well I did clean install of drivers AGAIN, as well every windows update.
As I said it can't be my pc cause I can play games that take much more resources, temptreture while playing rivals is around 49c-52c which is really low, as well cpu is average at 20-/+% and rarely goes above 50% as well gpu is on average 40+% usage. Power usage is not higher either, only thing I notice is that, fans seems to not slow down longer I play RIVALS specifically, so just making break after like 2 hours seems to prevent restart for me, well can't really test it cause haven't had it happen since. But since I monitor every session I play with invidia performance tab open I can guess what is exact cause, main thing I notice is that, klyntar and spider shibuya are most resource heavy maps, as weirdly mvp screen, character select in LOBBY jumps gpu usage from like 20% to 70% or 80% by just hovering over character icon. Either way I hope it gets fixed soon or not i heard people have same issues in stalker 2 and black ops 6. So it's not just rivals issue, so it's optimization issue, cause there is no way game like bg3 that makes my go to 65c and gpu is going 70% on average on not even highest settings, did not cause single restart while playing. Also a lot of people I seen mention that going above 120fps is causing problems too, but since I don't even have monitor for that can't test it myself.

I have the exact same issue. Always during comp play so I get a nice cool down for my troubles too. NO other game has ever done this to my PC. PSU should not be the issue, its 800w. I even tried running the game on lower settings, no help. This really needs fixed before it hurts my rig.

So what seems to have done the trick for me was uninstalling, deleting all files related to the game (Steam folder for the game, My Docs, app data) and clean installing. Been playing all day and haven't had any issues so far.
