Get an SSD if you're a PC gamer, especially if you play online games. If you can't or don't want to keep up with upgrades, then switch to consoles.
Swapped to my HDD and now the game runs buttery smooth. It makes zero sense but oh well!
But If you need a lot of storage lets face it 2TB won't be enough for anything
I got a 12TB HDD 7200rpm for about 200$ and a 12TB ssd is just at a stupid price
Use something like "PrimoCache" and use an SSD as cache for the HDD or just use an SSD
Whatever floats your boat really
its sad that new games are getting bigger but at the same time unoptimized for HDDs
I love how people try to poor shame but then have tiny storage medium like 1-2TB; meanwhile those of us with massive Steam libraries need storage upwards of 6+TB.
I currently have a 6TB drive just for my Steam library and it's not big enough for all the games I want installed.
And everyone saying "games aren't optimized for HDD" have no ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ clue what they are talking about. I have over 850 Steam games and only about 1-2 dozen of them don't run well on an HDD, the vast majority of games still work just fine on an HDD. Even some UE5 games, like Palworld, work just fine on an HDD.
Every new game defaults to my HDD, and if it has issues I move it to my SSD manually. Most games don't need moved. Also some games, such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Baldur's Gate 3 have a HDD mode in the settings.
