How does buying cosmetics work?

So we have the purple, blue, and gold currency. Of course gold is what they're selling. Which appears to have a 1:1 value for the blue. Purple you can collect through free play but i haven't seen how to spend it. Do i have to buy some other trash to use the purple? Is that their play?

well most of the skins costs 1400 or 1600
they can be obtained by spending units or lattice

Golden is for Battle Pass (Can be changed into Blue)
Blue is for Shop (Skins)

yeah i know. I'm just curious how to get skins. I have 15 hours in the game and 50 blue currency.

Purple coins ("Chrono Tokens") unlock rewards in the battle pass.
Gold coins ("Lattice") unlock the premium battle pass. They can also be coverted into Chrono Tokens or Units.
Blue coins ("Units") buy cosmetics from the shop.

Once you get enough Chrono Tokens (purple coins) you can unlock the Hela skin from the battle pass for free.
