They could go even further and have ai study popular players and add them in as guest appearances. Wanna try your luck against the top ranked team?
It has it limitations but ai could be helpful, even if it's training new players or giving the unaware a win to boost their confidence.
Out of fairness, if there are bots it should be known and not in secret. There should also be a place for PvP only ...but I don't think qp should be that place.

And communists are not spying on you, because you are not that important and will never be a threat to China. You are just another g4m3r#1337pwner

Which isn't to say its not a bot AI, just not the AI that the game itself has. The DEVs would have to have an entirely different AI for use in these bot matches, one that in no way resembles the AI bots even on easy.
And for what? to give somebody an easy win? To make them lose?
Loser ques have been a thing in overwatch for years and years. Do well and they match you against harder opponents or stacks (or both). Do badly enough and you get a match with better teammates. Why go through all the bother of creating easily identifiable bot names to insert into the game so people can get an 'easy win'. If they wanted to do that, why not use ChatGPT to make a million unique usernames? Allot about this just doesn't add up.
