Plan to play Marvel Rivals during Christmas Break, which heroes are noob friendly?
Are the star rankings for each hero accurate to their ease of use? Or are there factual disparities between what the devs think are the easiest to play and what the players themselves think are the easiest to play? Out of all the 2-stars and 1-stars, the ones that interest me the most are Iron Man, Doctor Strange, Magneto, Luna Snow, Mantis, Squirrel Girl and The Punisher. But I'm open to advice and recommendations for other characters.

i think they are somewhat accurate, but, for example, peni has a 5 star dificulty rating iirc. but she isnt honestly THAT hard. My honest opinion is: go into practice range, try any character youre somewhat interested in, and see how they play, most important is click F1 to see a brief explanation on all their abilities. For example, spiderman hits you with ranged attack increases their damage on next melee atack and improves an ability, wouldnt really know that if you didnt read it. Good luck and have fun!

No, star ratings is NOT accurate. Biggest example of that is Squirrel Girl. Rated 1 star, but you will be deadweight if you don't know how to aim and get the high grounds, or how to land her stun. Definitely not a beginner friendly character

As for noob friendly characters?

Venom. Can web swing and have access to a defensive ability that essentially doubles his life bar. Really hard to die with if you know how to plan an escape. He is a tank

Scarlet Witch. Moira's succ primary fire with the ability to throw out a rather hard hitting projectile. Does not require a lot of aim, and has a solid escape tool. DPS

Punisher. Simple af CoD bro. He has an assault rifle, a shotgun, and a turret. Point and shoot, extremely straightforward but requires some aim. He is also extremely mobile with ziplines. DPS

Jeff the Land Shark. The community swears he is a spawn of Satan. Primary fire shoots out a healing beam at crosshair, secondary shoots an exploding projectile. His ultimate can gobble up EVERYONE inside the AoE, which you can spit out per team or swim away with them in tow.

Cloak and Dagger. Another Moira, somewhat. Cloak and Dagger's gimmick is that they have 2 forms. One's healing and the other's a pure supportive kit. You can heal and boost healing done with Dagger, while Cloak shoots out a projectile that blinds and increase damage vulnerability on victim and have the ability to make your entire team vanish, an extremely reliable way of dodging ultimates. Dagger's primary fire is homing daggers, while Cloak's the Moira succ. A bit complex but still pretty simple since primary fire eliminates the need to aim.

Hulk Smash!

Jeff is by far one of the funnest and most underrated characters in the game! I highly recommend you try him out...!

Hulk is very fun but I would NOT classify him as noob friendly

Okay, I just might do that.

Venom, Scarlet Witch, Punisher, Jeff the Land Shark and Cloak & Dagger, got it. Now that the entire Fantastic Four are in the game, which one of them are the most noob friendly?

Thing by far. He’s a one star difficulty tank and basically just rushes in and does tank stuff without faltering. As long as you know how to play tank it’s a guaranteed m/svp every game.

Human torch is second solely because of technical difficulty, though I usually have a harder time playing him than invis. Hes honestly just a pretty bad pick in casual lobbies so it’s really easy to go negative, but his kit doesn’t take much technical skill. I’ve had games where I’ve had a 10:1 kd, and others where the opposite happened.

Invisible woman is the better character, but her kit is a bit more complex. You sorta have to aim your heals, you have to strategically use her push and pull mechanics to get enemies in bad positions, and you have to deal with a lack of insane healing options.

And lastly is Mr fantastic as a mix of torch and invis. His kit is pretty complicated with a lot of janky moves, he has a hard to charge meter that changes his kit drastically, he’s a really weird mix role between dps and tank making him hard to position, and he’s just straight up bad. I respect any Mr fantastic main because he is very fun, but there’s a lot of hoops where I can’t realistically recommend him to a new player.

Okay, good to know. Out of all the options mentioned so far (Cloak & Dagger, Jeff, Punisher, Scarlet Witch, Thing and Venom), The Thing and Venom seem the most appealing to me based on color palette alone. Orange and Black are some of my favorite colors alongside Red, Yellow, White and Gray, but red is my absolute favorite of those six colors.

Got any other suggestions for noob friendly heroes to start out with? Are Doctor Strange, Iron Man, Magneto or Thor any good for newbs?

Doctor strange is the second easiest tank in the game aside from the thing. Off of stats alone he’s my main but I dropped him a while back due to learning some harder characters. He’s extremely fun for noobs and has the means to both defend healers and apply insane pressure. Would recommend.

Iron man is a weird case in which he’s a pretty easy character but also is a flyer, which unless your storm usually isn’t good. He got buffed recently so this could change, but he’s just not very strong overall. Might be smart to check him out for select maps but other than that I can’t recommend.

Magneto is easy but is not fun. No movement options, very passive, and a little goofy to understand at times. I just don’t enjoy playing him but he’s not all too hard.

And Thor, while Insanely fun and my current main, is definitely one of the more technically complicated tanks. He plays a goofy role of a dps with a ton of health, where he can do some insane damage to tanks or especially stray healers he gets his hands on, but doesn’t have the defensive means to solo tank. Hes also got 3 different passive abilities, so a lot of people dont get him early on. A very very fun character who pops off frequently, but watch a guide first.
