How does rank degradation work?

is it possible to degrade from one milestone to another?
like if I'm in Gold and i lose enough games will I be returned to Silver?

Yes. Decay is a different story. There isn't Decay until like Grandmaster apparently. Somewhere up there is when not playing for a week can lead to decay.
