Why are so many hating on EOMM?
What is it exactly? A quick google search told me it is a type of matchmaking that makes players happy but I'm seen the opposite - players are FURIOUS!

Is EOMM the reason why I lose half my games (on ranked)? Sometimes it seems like I get teamed up with the worst players in the world guaranteeing a loss and other times the enemy team ends up being the worst team in the world guaranteeing a win for me. Something about the matchmaking or game does not seem optimized at all. Is this the problem people are talking about?

Yes, this is the reason you lose half of your Quick Play games (ranked doesn't have EOMM)

Engagement Based Match Making (EOMM), picks games, specifically to help someone win, and therefore have fun. That fun could be targeted at you, where the game would make your team better than the enemies, or it could be targeted at someone on the enemy team, stacking their team to be better than yours. This is in alternative, to Skill Based Match Making (SBMM), where the game tries to place you with enemies and teammates, close to your skill level. This is a flawed system, because most SBMM systems, place you based off previous games , i.e. you lose a game, you then get placed with other people who lost their previous games, and usually also share similar stats (some systems ignore your stats, meaning you can get placed with top ranks, just because you both lost previous games). For players looking for a more casual experience, EOMM tends to provide a more enjoyable experience, because the game actively tries to give you winning games, after a loss. But for players looking to hone their skills, or who find the competition more fun than just simply winning, SBMM can be more enjoyable.

The fact of the matter is, the majority of players, hate to lose, more than they like to get better, and win through the improvement of their skills; and getting placed with similarly skilled players, tends to make for harder fought games, therefore more devastating losses.

You might have noticed that many players of this game, have not figured out that they suck, and so the only way for them to win, and have fun, is to have some wins handed to them. It's an ego problem, and once people learn that you will ALWAYS suck, no matter your rank or tournament placement , only then is when you can get better.
Good luck in all y'all's games!

Well, deserter bans in QP are due to EOMM. That's one reason why at least. Another is the fact that when you win, you can't really feel good about it (in QP). It's probably a match the game decided you aught to win; whether it be against bots or just lower skill level players.

QP should just be ping based. The best server for me is oregon. But when I select oregon, dallas, virginia... it always goes to dallas or north virginia.

We have told them with math. We have shown them with their own "evidence".

They can't be told anything. They're just gonna go on hating the fact that they can't get a 70% win rate by gaming old queue math.

Some PvPers aren't really interested in a fair fight or a level playing field. They only want what benefits them as much as possible.

its common knowledge that EOMM is a thing
Their belief is that the game deliberately rigs games against them from time to time, even though this is not the intention of EOMM (which is to prevent long loss streaks). This game DOES put you against bots sometimes after you lose, but there's no evidence to suggest it will deliberately give you an awful team to force you to lose. It's most likely just that there's a lot of pretty bad players out there and sometimes even good players play poorly.
Lokaror Jan 22 @ 7:27am
Im not convinced that EOMM can force wins or losses. The bot games can be really annoying though. If i wanted to stomp bots, i'd q practice vs bots.
