fastest way to gain 100 assists?
Even as a healer I dont seem to get any if much

Storm in AI matches. Fly low to the ground so your damage boost aura affects your teammates with the largest range. And don't attack much.

i use rocket raccoon or cloak dagger in general, surprisingly storm get a lot of assist with her aura

I average 20-30 as Mantis for assists.

Yeah, assists are gained by buffing an ally not by damaging an enemy. Damaging an enemy that someone else finishes off counts as a "kill" actual kills are the "final hit" stat. That's why there will be way more kills than deaths after a match. So if you want assists you want buffs.

No easy way around it. You need a good team for this that get kills. If you help them out you get assist. If they suck or can't land a kill you get 0.

As long as you don't do the killing yourself, yes. That's why Storm gets a crapton of Assists.

Outside of Storm the best heroes to use to get Assists is Rocket, Mantis, and Dagger, in that order.

Some Supports it is significantly harder to get lots of assists, like Susan, Loki, Adam Warlock and Luna Snow.
