SM+Venom Necros copycats are ruining the fun for me

Preface: this might a you're old/git gud moment. IDC. I need to vent.

First up, i'm in Silver 3. Been trying to pierce through tonight. Been trying different characters, read and watch good vids and ive felt a decent level of progress. But man even in silver 3, even with pretty decent level of coordination and team work, its super sweaty. But that's ok. It feels like i'm getting better.

But man is the situation feeling unsustainable. I understand metas. I'm 40 years old, been in the esports biz for 20 years, i know whats up. And i've learned to ro realise when to stop playing a game that has devolved to this extent. So i'm gonna take a break after this.

Tonight, 7 matches in a row, in comp silver, we had what seems like 7 different stacks of 2 players on spider-man and venom combos, mimicing a lot what Necros has been doing (could also just because it's a _very good_ meta combo at low rank). Trust me, I respect Necros a lot. He might be the GOAT atm. At least, until this situation is adressed.

I dunno if the characters are overtuned, but our backlines were getting _wrecked_ all night, to the extent that i had to learn Namor to at least counter SM a slight bit more than all my mains. Every single game was a total cluster. I still managed to win 3 of those (1 because the stack was busy wrecking our backline and c9'd the control point...). But every game was frustrating to an extent that is hard to describe.

What do yall think? Are you seeing similar patterns? Has necros (pardon me venom buddy, forgot who it is) being a social media sensation created a bunch of mimics that make the game barely playable at lower skill levels? Should NetEase intervene?

bronze-gold is the easiest ranks to get out of until you get gold1 then it's garbage kids who think they are better than they really are up till diamond 1/gm3

its def skill issue bud, you just need to find the hero or role that suits you, just made a smurf to play with friends on the lower level and hit plat from bronze 3 in 22 game or so lol

not sure how this necro guy plays spiderman/venom differently than everyone else.
From what I can tell most heroes are pretty straight forward on how they should be played.
Other than loki and groot I cant think of many heroes that can be played more than 1 way and still be good.

Spiderman is OP imo. Despite being a 5 star diff hero hes one of the easiest to get kills with. even with out venom.
land a few right clicks as you dive in, E, F and they are dead. E is a lock on, F is a massive aoe around spiderman. its ridiculous.

Iv been trying to get gud with magik, its been rough. but I played a match as spiderman for the mission thing and even tho it was my first time playing him in a match, I already learned his combos from practice range. And It was amazing how simple it was to just get a kill and peace out.

Maybe im wrong and necro does play a different way and people are coping that. but a dive tank and dive dps sticking together doesnt seem like that advanced of a tactic that they need a streamer to show people.

no yeah spiderman even on its own is super annoying. i dont really even get to play the game as anything but tank when spiderman just appears out of nowhere and one shots me and then disappears again. even worse so that if he messes up and has a venom he can just walk away like nothing happened.

I play as Wolverine and I've done a lunge to a flying Scarlet Witch and got myself webbed by Spider-Man at the last second. It was quite impressive.

I have my role and heroes, they all get destroyed due to lack of peel. Peeling an SM feels unbearable with any non-hitscan hero.

Sounds like you are a washed 40yr old who can’t adapt to higher skilled dive mechanics. You’ve been in the esports biz for 20 years? If that’s actually true than you should be able to identify the skill gap between you and others. Even if they’re playing meta. It’s only a couple options.

Meta is so strong that it’s actually broken and skill can’t compensate. And you must counter with same meta or boycott but know you’ll lose

Meta is strong but skill can close the gap with or without team

Meta is barely meta and thus irrelevant for non pro scenarios.

But ultimately you have control over all above scenarios. With success viable in all but the one where you refuse to participate in meta but you know you’ll lose. But you can’t whine about that either bc you chose it. But since you swapped to Namor that doesn’t seem to be the case. I think it’s an issue of you need to dive enemy team better than your team is getting dove or peel to help your team/healers getting dove.

Guys. Spiderman ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ sucks. It doesn't matter what hero you're playing, if you pay attention to him and hit your shots, he is not a threat. Hero is absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, people just let him get away with broad daylight murder.

That was your mistake, a lot of people don't think for themselves so they're easily impressed by something as simple as players sticking together.

If this Necros guy said to play Venom and dive in solo every game, people would do it without question. He's also a better player than most of the people in these discussions so he can make the weird goofy ♥♥♥♥ work compared to Johnny Nobody who plays MK and stays on low ground and wonders why he's hard stuck.

Those were probably smurfs or people who just entered competitive. A real silver Spider-Man player can't chew gum and walk at the same time and should be easily 1v1'd by a silver support.
