If you decide to give it another try. here is my advice as an overwatch player that made the grind solo from silver to diamond/masters.
Learn 2 heroes in each role. Look up some basic guides on how to position yourself, what you should be doing. Overwatch guides translate well to Rivals.
These games aren't all about who has the best aim or reflexes. You can mentally outplay your opponent as well. Hero shooters at a high level are very deep complex games. It just depends on how hardcore you want to take it.
But the basics to just enjoy the game more, learn few heroes in each role and your game experience will improve.
Heres a good one to start. I haven't seen it but I know Coach Mills is a good player

Its the most frustrating part of OQ for reals. But it makes the wins just *that* much sweeter.
1. Remember the most important thing. What characters you take doesn't determine anything at all. Whether it's a meta or 6 duelists. None of that matters. These are random players, you play without any interaction and hoping that you will have a good team is very stupid. And only one team out of 10 will be good. It's the brains and the feeling of the game that counts.
2. When I'm in the mood I fill the lobby. I take a healer or a tank, whatever is left. I play this way very often - but nothing changes. All matches are scripted. It doesn't matter how you play or even you and your team. If the game needs it - you will lose. Suddenly and for nothing.
3. When I'm not in the mood I just take what I want. Often it's really damage. Since there is a lot more fun and peace of mind. I'm already tired and just don't care as nothing changes either way. Adequate players just like me in point 2 will fill the lobby. If your team is adequate everything will be fine until the scripts switch not in your favor.
Just remember. Nothing will change from your pick or your partner. It's roulette. The game is sewn into the script and to somehow adequately play now you need a team and coordinated actions and that is not a guarantee of success.
Especially since healers are pretty much dps on steroids in this game, every game i'm in there are AT LEAST 2 supports.
