Flying heroes, general thoughts and experience. (and team comp general)
Just a general talk thread on flying heroes, mainly in current trendy comps with Storm.

So, i feel like people misunderstands what makes flying heroes good and how they can dominate the field. Yes, you are up and away from danger, you need to counter pick against them, they can damage a lot and all that stuff. But i feel like there is a general misunderstanding in where this potential comming from and becaue of that there are a lot of low skill, low value players trying to play Storm in matches right now.

I think big part to what enables a good "fly comp" are good tanks and skilled supports. People get stomped by a wacky comp like Iron Man, Storm and any combination fo Thor, Hulk, Strange and Cap and then you get people trying that in your team, but with an infinitelly worse results. But i play Tank and i don't like playing with flying heroes. I prefer to have extra damage with me to secure kills and push. And it's kidna frustrating to see people trying to do wacky things, without core understanding why they work and how to play them.

Would be cool to hear what people think about flying comp, how to play with them, what they don't like, how to counter pick, how to accomodate good flying comp, etc etc.

Also possibly extending into other wacky comps like 1-2-3.

The Iron Man/Hulk combo works on many levels because Hulk buffs the Iron Man AND distracts the ground targets. They can even dive on the snipers capable of easily bringing down the Iron Man.
A good iron man player with good divers on their team is a menace. If they are playing in a ranged comp, they can still be effective, but its not nearly as annoying to play against(imo).

Storm doesn't particularly strike me as a flying dps, but rather a DPS that can fly if needed.

If I'm playing Peni, and there is an opposing Iron Man, and my team doesn't have somoene to bring him down (Hela, Punisher, Hawkeye, Namor), I will switch to Namor if that Iron Man is any kind of good. I can't hack a good Iron Man as Peni- maybe Good Peni players can, but not me. The Projectile speed is too slow. I've never had an issue with Storm, though [as Peni].
I think it's because there's more good Iron mans to go around than good Storms. They do kind of a same thing, where they play around corners, do the wiggle in the air that makes it difficult to hit em with projectiles and overall being a nuisance, but i think main thing that people go for with this comp is tanks taking way too much attention from the air, so they just taking pot shots at you from the air.

I play Groot and Magneto, which is where my main frustrations comes from with team compositions and how people play them. I need other people to help me help them win and that's not a very fun possition to be in, when everyone trying to do "cool stuff" that won't work with current team.
Storm is just slow. Iron man has a movement speed boost mechanic that actually is good and really makes him great. Storm does have a movement speed improvement but it's dialed down couse of it's ability to affect teammates. In that state she has no escape mechanism that she can use to survive once targeted.

iron man is tough as peni, except his ult, you can almost always cancel his ult, even if he gets it off the web has colision and the pulse will hit it mid air and stop.

Oh I've definitely done this before. Peni can mess with a lot of Ults.

Many characters counter them or have an ability to ground them or displace them enough to get them killed. So many characters do in fact that you should have at least one counter for one flying hero pretty much 1:1 ratio.
I mean, no brain answer is "pick Namor", but i was talking more in terms of team compositions.

Good teams with flyiers on them usually have cracked aggressive tanks and supports that can keep everyone alive. Flying heroes being almost inconsequential, if it wasn't for team-up abilities that boost their damage so much. Storm generate ults from free hits she lands, because of tanks that take all the attention and that moves things forward.
