Shes reminds me of Kiriko with Zen's Ult. Shes a great, well-rounded Strategist. Shes my second favorite hero in the game.
the fact she's a great duelist who happens to heal too
Mantis doesn't have to choose between heals and DPS, unlike almost all other healers in the game she can do both simultaneously.

Then she's probably not the support for you then. She's a mix of dps and heals. Her healing doesn't take much time to do, so if you're not dealing a lot of damage with her, you're playing her wrong.

Getting crits with her primary attacks gives her more orbs to heal and boost damage with too, so you're even more incentivized to spend a large amount of your time hitting enemies.

ty then gonna focus on luna/jeff for heals
If she were a bad healer we wouldn't be sitting here on the point now would she

Luna is great as a pure healer. Rocket is also very nice as a heal bot provided you're supporting a team that likes to death ball around and isn't too spread out.

thats the word im looking for "pure healer" i dont dps its too hard for me lol
The Ult and the damage.

In that case the only one you should touch is Rocket. Even he is arguable, but at least it's an argument (whether you should only heal and run away or if you should try to shoot things too).

Luna can and should go heavy into heals, but she's also very valuable for doing damage. Her cooldown turns her attacks into a laser that penetrates all characters (not shields though) and heals and hurts in a fairly forgiving hit area, which also makes it exceptional for picking off some of the more agile targets at a decent range (only works up to 40m) like other healers, flyers, or flankers. Her main attack/heal is either hitscan or so fast it may as well be hitscan, which again makes her a strong threat against the more highly mobile enemies especially if she can land the freeze as well. You know you're doing good when Iron Man and Psylocke are afraid to show their faces to you as heals and go after the DPS instead.

The problem I tend to run into is that the moment I stop healing, people die. It's most extreme the times I've tried playing C&D. I basically cannot touch that shift button AT ALL or else somebody is going to die, even if it's only to throw a wall and swap back.

if i wanna play mantis do i need to do dps? aim for heads or can I just aim for bodies
All this talk about heaolers..Then...I just wish Rocket had hitscan weapons.
His chaingun is infuriatingly weak and dies super easy to Venom and Spiddie
Nothing, she is an off healer

Ideally you want head shots, but it's pretty dependant at what range and what hero hitbox you're firing at. Her attacks hit like a truck if she's damage amping herself, so the important thing is just landing the hits, which requires leading shots due to the travel time of projectiles.

Headshots are critical hits, and each critical hit restores one of your orbs that you use to heal and damage amp. So if you can, you definitely want to land them.

You want to pretty much always want have your own damage amped because it's important to be putting constant pressure on the enemy with her. Amping yourself also keeps you almost constantly healing, because you gain healing over time from using the orbs.
Remember that her damage amp is only 12%. It's rare that it will make any difference at all, and rarer still if she casts it on herself. Healing should be her top priority for using her orbs, with damage amps only coming in if she's got extra orbs and nothing that needs a heal, and then the priority should generally be DPS>Tanks>Mantis. In practice Mantis should probably only damage amp herself if there's nobody else (friendly) around and she needs to self heal, but she should avoid that particular situation at all cost.

wow that sounds insanely hard to do,

first of all i have to boost myself and damage them WHILE giving my team some heals..smh

but im finding jeff really fun to play. I just wish his heals were better i mean stronger a tad bit

What makes Mantis strong is mainly her damage output from herself and the damage buffs to the team, sleep cc, and incredible ult. Her healing output on its own isn't great, but she gets to use it more often if she lands headshots. She counters a lot of diving enemies, ults like Spider-Man's, and whatever else with her sleep cc and it's very easy to land it. It's essentially a free pick if you land it on a non tank, and can make a fight a 6v5 temporarily regardless. Then there's her ridiculous ult that makes everyone around her practically invincible provided you're not focused down with help from a Groot ult. Of course, she's not good if she's the sole healer, but you should always have at least 2 healers on the team otherwise there won't be enough heals to go around. Also, you want to be spreading that damage buff to your damage dealers, allies doing damaging ults, or yourself when it's your turn to be on the offense.
