Hard to put down? Absolutely.
But he also lacks the ability to burst down people. His movements and attack patterns are predictable. His ultimate is bad. He's more annoying than problematic. Some of the roster can have larger impact by just ignoring him and doing their thing.
Like a good dr strange is so much scarier. Strange is also hard to put down, but has more mobility and the potential to burst the **** out of you.
His main strength is the ability to sustain for an insane amount of time via comboing that enables him to pretty much be infinitely spamming tank mode and gaining a ton of extra hp. His weakness is his mobility, especially when it comes to escaping.
His sustained dps is good but short ranged, his burst damage combo is nothing too special. He isn't doing a 250 damage rotation as quickly as Strange's full dark energy combo.
He is frustrating to put down if he knows his cooldowns well enough to pop buff mode often but he doesn't do crazy damage so a lot of it is just staying wtih your healers and blowing him up once his various Big Modes wear off.
His biggest strength is really just allowing the team to more effectively run 3 DPS without it being too squishy.
His damage mostly comes from him being able to attack multiple enemies at once, you can drag his attack to his enemies who're beside each other and catch attack fast moving enemies. His Big Boi mode allows him to dive into a group after a support, go big and focus down that support while shrugging off enough damage to accomplish the task. In my experience he is best played as a frontline dive character who focuses on building his par until a single E is all that's needed to activate it then going after the enemies backline, causing chaos even if he fails to kill his target.
I've had great success with Mr Fantastic and I think people just don't understand his kit. His ultimate is pretty good as well, just situational, it has a slow effect so when used in tight spaces you do damage much faster and enemies cannot escape your attacks.
