Doom Match ?

I don't understand this mode, it a practice mode, but the bots are attacking me 5 on 1 before I can even think. Nothing is explained. How do you activate portals? I'f you can even move.

Doom Match is Death Match Free For All. No teams, everyone against everyone else. I've never tried it with bots, but it's a mode I have never liked specifically for the reason you just stated.

Most of the portals are the orange portals that look like the Dr Strange portal. They don't need activated.
There are also purple rifts which you activate by pressing G. These are only in the outside area afaik.

So the 10 portal event mission thing is just walking through them? I'm guessing I have to wait the 1hr for it to count?

No. You have to play Doom Match in Arcade Mode for it to count. There are two different versions of Doom Match. One is accessed from the Practice button and one from the game mode selection button. Arcade Mode Doom Match is first to 18 kills or 10 minutes.

There may be secret bots, but both versions of Doom Match are against real players normally. The practice mode one does not penalize players for leaving mid match and actually more or less encourages it. You're supposed to just jump in at any time and get a few kills to test out a character or something along those lines.

Free For All match, aka no actual teams, you attack everyone. You're goal is just to kill people as quickly as possible, and keeping your deaths low. At the end of matches, the top six performers are the "winners". Deaths are meant to be tie breakers too BTW, this is why you want to avoid deaths whenever possible. If you and another person have the same amount of kills, the person with fewer deaths will come after the person with less deaths.

You play the maps running around the place, with Dr Strange Portals in some area's and Purple Rock like things that teleport you to other locations too if you stand in front of them and Press G.
