Loki backstab is a n00b trap.

The ability is listed in the character help which makes it sound like something you are supposed to use. But the actual damage increase is so marginal that I just assumed I was failing to land the backstab until the match ended and I got the backstab KO achievement.

If the ability is that useless it should just be removed. As it is you are just giving players bad information.

I won't even count how many times I stabbed Thor to death.

I agree it should be buffed, as a Loki main, because it's already funny to harass people as him. However, the "marginal" increase is more than enough to combo a Banner with a single shot and a backstab, or enough to seriously help when it comes to being a nuisance and backstabbing retreating dives.
He's got a great kit, and the ability is listed as a passive because it's a thing that happens when he stabs someone in the back. Not a noob trap if the noob in question has common sense.

also note that most picks (included healers) normal melee hits already do 45 dmg from any angle lol

Loki already does upwards of 90 damage per M1
Has every ult in the game from stealth
Has one of the best mobility tools in the game
His shift is so strong its basically a mini luna ult
He doesn't need to be stronger and he doesn't need to be running around like a TF2 spy looking for "picks" while his team dies

Nah, its fine. It's just a small flavor passive. In no world should he be able to go invis and do like 100 dmasge with a backstab.

Ranged fighters using their melee is situational, but at the same time can be nasty to the target, some shielding abilities melee attacks will bypass and hit the target regardless if you're in front of it.

Quick Melee hits also do a lot more damage than some people think.

its for when you put a clone behind a squad retreating and they cant be observant or you get lucky and an opponent accidentally retreats in that direction I finished of a low health peni who wasnt paying attention as they were trying to keep the convoy while my team was pushing.

No one says you have to do 100 stabs to kill Thor. Thanks to invisibility and clones, Loki can very easily get behind to deliver one or two final blows and in this situation it doesn't matter at all whether Thor is good or bad. It all depends on positioning. Besides, in close combat, a knife strike is simply faster than a pew-pew from a staff.
Let me give you another example. When I played Venom, I was constantly losing 1v1 fights to Iron Fist. Tentacles are stronger and do more damage, they said. But tentacles have a significant time gap between hits (just like Loki's staff). Instead of tentacles, I started just biting and punching him, and as it turned out, Iron Fist wasn't that cool anymore. And he dies pretty quickly.
Moral of the story: don't underestimate melee attacks.

I didn't say it should do 100 damage, I said it's a noob trap to have a special ability that is worse then left clicking.
