I have yet to fail me at making tons and tons of new friends while playing games online... Is it really just that difficult to do for people?
"Oh look, I'm 30 yo unemployed man, living with my parents and Captain Murrica is my favourite character bc he has a shield etc etc"
i went from silver to bronze 3. i was not in a good place, and kept being teammed by bot like players. a lot of bronze players have no business in ranked.
but if i play dps i sftu, bc tank and heals are doing their best and my only job is to right click and do some hit and run if I play melee or stay the hell out of the warzone if i play ranged.
Former Low Diamonds getting matched with/against former GM's
And Gold Elo is a bloody war zone with People climbing from silver and former high ranked players
Im currently at Plat 2 rn and players are still up on each other's throats
My climb to Diamond in S0 was a breeze cause everyone was still learning the game and we all started at Bronze so when climbed we earned the rank, in S1 The median was Gold and it became a cesspit of toxicity (good luck climbing out)
I would rather play a chaotic uncoordinated game where we loose but nobody really bets an eye and can have fun, than play on a toxic wasteland.
I'm also from the days of Quake, but I don't talk to people in-game. There is no purpose. In the days of Quake, there too was trash talk and toxicity, just not as popular because the game had a higher bar of entry. What use is to listen to the enemy team talk trash? Match chat is muted all game, every day.
I know what you mean. It is hard to stay positive when you go on insane losing streaks and know for a fact that most of those games are lost by sheer luck. I play all roles pretty consistently, with like 3 solid characters per role so I can usually tell wtf is going on where or what needs to be done to win. Silver ranks have been an actual disaster this season. Last season started late and got to gold pretty fast, stopped there for a skin but right now... sheesh, my back is ♥♥♥♥♥♥ beyond belief trying to carry these teams and it is not even like an egotistical opinion, it's a fact. So it is mighty hard not to ask your team wtf could they possibly be ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ doing while I am solo holding the point vs 5 people longer than I should be, in less than pleasant tone.
So moral of the story, people better ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ try their best or gtfo of ranked cause I am and many others are sick and tired of this lobotomite experience we been getting. Also if you sucking, swap the ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ character or at least admit that hey, my bad dudes cause I do that when something not working out. Also obviously I am not gamer or I do just solo carry everyone to diamond or something, I do have bad games where I under perform and I usually be first one to admit it. Yet god ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ forbid I ask someone to swap or wtf are they doing, suddenly it's me crying and taking it too seriously. Like mf get the ♥♥♥♥ out of ranked if you are so cool and do not care, go play with AI if you do not care to win so much.
Between having to be solo pusher tank who lives of health packs and having more dmg than dps, or a dps in a team where I am only one with positive score and only one who is taking better positions and trying to flank, or a game as a healer where I have to heal while holding the objective while also killing enemy team dps.... it is quite ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ maddedning having to lose anyways and have some termite try to tell you with full brovado that you are the issue while the game statistics say otherwise. Also no, I am not exaggerating. I am literally constantly having games where I have to keep team alive while also doing job of at least one more role that I am not even playing.
