Overwatch Ripoff

from the looks of the trailer, it's yet another overwatch ripoff. not only that, but my ears wither from cheesy and uninspired writing the trailer displayed where characters are screaming out generic and childish phrases. i think this game is made for kids.

Overwatch is a TF2 ripoff.

All that matters is if the game is fun. It looks fun.

when hero shooters are all looking the same it can get repetitive.

Being a rip-off doesn't inherently make a game or product bad. In fact, because it's a ripoff of Overwatch (OW1, to be exact) with a very similar quality, this game gave me the same happy feeling I got when I first place OW1 all those years ago.

I just hope it doesn't fall into the same pitfalls as OW1 with the heavy handing buffs or nerfs, and manage to keep the game's queues open and not force role select into the game, which killed the OW's'freedom for team comp creativity.

we are talking about whether it is an overwatch ripoff or not, not whether the game is good or bad. and from the looks of it, it is heavily inspired by overwatch and honestly comes off as a ripoff. if we were to look at everything else however, it's also uninspired.

Define "ripoff" and"uninspired" then. Because I don't see Marvel Rivals as a ripoff. It's approach to gameplay is very different when compared to Overwatch.

Now, Is the game derivative of Overwatch? Sure, you bet. Every modern game is derivative of another game, including Overwatch itself. But I simply can't call it a ripoff when:

• Overwatch isn't 3rd person, so the gameplay doesn't facilitate melee-based combat as well as Marvel Rivals does with heroes like Spiderman, Black Panther and Magik
  
• Overwatch doesn't have heroes like Iron Man or Storm who can hover in the air endlessly, and thus add another layer to combat where enemies can approach you from unexpected angles (Pharah and Echo doesn't count compared to those heroes because they can only hover temporarily and eventually have to touch the ground)
  
• Overwatch doesn't have team up abilities that give players new skills for specific heroes, creating more dynamic choices in forming team compositions
  
• Overwatch doesn't have destructible environments where players can destroy parts of the map either to create new paths to flank from or obstacles to use
  
• Overwatch doesn't have the Marvel IP where they have years of unique heroes and villains to pull from, as well as utilizing a short lived, forgotten comic book series (Marvel 2099) as one of its main universes.

But because the game is a hero shooter and has a visual style similar to Overwatch, it's considered a ripoff and uninspired? The only way I would consider Marvel Rivals a ripoff of Overwatch is if they made it an FPS game and copied OW's gameplay completely 1 to 1, but they didn't clear do that. Really, though, if you only consider what is being presented at face value, any game can seem like a ripoff of another game.

Instead of claiming the game is a ripoff, you should try playing it for yourself on December 6th so you can see how different the game actual is.

It may be somewhat similar. But it's way faster than Overwatch 2 and more deep mechanic-wise.

Marvel Heros, Films, Comics etc. Both for Kids and Adults. You watching Batman Films and says Marvel just for kids. I can't take you seriously even if I wanted to. Then don't play while we enjoy the game.
