Not enough water
I mined every piece of dirt, made every possible bit of slag, and made every possible spore in the demo. There isn't enough water on the demo map to wet every spore, so now that I'm moving onto the next step in map-clearing, I'm gonna have a ton of leftover dry spores

I'm pretty sure the cold gun makes snow that can be turned to steam and condensed into renewable water.

I used the napalm rocket water dupe. Now my issue is that there's only roughly half the amount of red sand as the total amount of Amethelis, so now I have a bunch of leftover amethelis :p
yeah redsand is a problem and yes cold gun method works
Might be a better way.

What I do is create a water generation facility in the upper right corner. Create a box and fill it with snow. Melting the snow gives you steam. Once the snow is gone remove the top of the box letting the steam go to the top of the map and condense into water. I then guide that water down to the little lake you encounter on the surface.

A little work, but unlimited water.
This might be old news, but my understanding is that the demo is not being worked on at all. The dev has stated a few months back that all efforts have shifted to the full release. The final product should fix most complaints from what i've seen.

If you want to keep experimenting with the demo, but you need more resources, try using the debug option. You can create or delete whatever resources you need. Sending info...
From Reddit:

Credit to Lottie from discord for these instructions (of Lottie's Cave fame)

"To unlock debug mode,

go to options,

at the bottom, open debug console, click it

then you want to go to sources in the debug tools, go down into the JS folder as shown in the first image

right click on bundle.js it and click override content then at the top you should get this prompt (second image), select a folder to store it in (i just use Downloads/Sandustry) search (Ctrl+f) for debug: { the first instance of that in the file should look like the third image

change the line just underneath it from active: !1 to active: 1

then hit Ctrl+s to save the change

be sure to save your game

then go back to the console and hit Ctrl+Shift+r to refresh it

as for how to use debug mode Click "Debug" bottom right of the screen E + click places solids (second half of the element list) F + click places dynamic elements (first half of the list)

Press R to lock camera position (so you can move about or out of frame or whatever you want, then R again to center the player again

❌ Do not use the empty box element, it will freeze the game. ❌ Ideally do not hit Hide UI, it will require a refresh (or further tinkering) to fix ✅ If you find a bug using this, please tell Lantto you were using this

Note: on Linux using Proton to run the game, use Z:/ based path If loading stops working, either you modified a image file outside of params accepted or the game updated enough that your modifications don't work if you have only turned on debug mode, remove/delete your bundle.js override and start from the begining of the guide."
So the only way is to cheat welp works for me anyway because I already automatically automated the whole process of sand to flux except for there's not enough reds and so the problem solved!
You can't even automate spores/seeds in the demo so it's really a minor complaint.
