Sandustry

Sandustry

Some personal suggested additions!
1. An issue i ran into several times was wanting to get into my machines but not having an entrence without breaking something. A block that permits players but blocks everything else would be really nice; like an airlock or a trapdoor or something.
2. In the same essence, a solid/liquid/gas filtration system would be nice, similarly to oxygen not included; a block that allows both liquids and gases and another block that only allows gases to pass through.
3. Sand, lava and water are obviously non-renewable; which is fine for a demo, but clearly makes farms unsustainable for the people who *really* wanna optimize something. Some sort of in-world generator for these that players have to discover and build around would be really cool to see; like a water/steam vent or a volcano that spews lava.
4. When lava and water interact, essentially nothing occurs. The water turns to steam and the lava dissappears; and the lost lava is unrecoverable. I suggest that either the lava turns into the existing scoria or something like obsidian, similar to minecraft.
5. The vaccuum, i think, should either instead be a leafblower; pushing pixels away rather than pulling them in, or have a togglable option to switch between suck and blow, just for convenience.
6. Building things is currently free, and essentially sets no limits on what the player can do, which is good, but limits also breed creativity; and lack of limits breeds lag. Perhaps using gold, and having it refunded to 100% (or something lower depending on resource generation and balance and what not) when broken could be a neat addition; maybe in like a survival mode or something.
7. Movable blocks. I think it would be really cool if you could use some special "dettach" tool to make blocks free-floating; like TNT blocks in noita. Because with such a feature implemented, you could add something like thrusters, or rope, or wheels, or other similar things. Imagine creating hinges or elevators or something similar.
7.5. Alternatively, if free-floating would be too big of a strain on the system, simply non-rigidity would be cool to see; rotational rods, or springs, with non-rotating blocks, something more akin to minecraft.
8. MORE. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. SPEED. ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ IT HURTS TO MOVE. EVEN THE GRAPPLING HOOK DOESNT HELP BEACAUSE IT COMES SO LATE AND REQUIRES WALLS TO MOVE FUNCTIONALLY.

Thank you for coming to my tedtalk. i REALLY enjoyed this game, if it wasnt obvious. probably my new favorite game of all time, assuming progress of its development goes well!

1: The cover art shows a vertical airlock. Make a 2 tile tall hole in the wall, and a 3 wide conveyer belt going into it. Things spill out, but dont fall off the belt, and you can walk through it. Image in the example factory on the store page.

This sort of airlock still allows liquids to spill out, and pixels like amethis can still spill out due to the horizontal drift. I tend to use two inwards facing launchers for my airlocks, since it's compact and relatively effective. But still not 100%

Thank you for the great feedback!

1. Yeah, probably the most annoying thing right now. You can build airlocks between sections with current blocks as Arcanochromatic Detonation says but it's annoying and convoluted. I think I have a pretty good solution planned though.
2. Yes, more filter blocks are planned so that's definitely coming. Love ONI btw.
3. The idea is that by the time you reach the same point in the full game as where the demo currently ends you will have some kind of infinite water source. There might even be one added to the demo. I think sand should always be a prime resource you need to actively mine for though, but possibly that the ways you get it change (harder dirt or that you need to create it from other things).
4. This is unintended and was from before lava hade any use so it will be changed. Obsidian would be cool as a homage to Minecraft.
5. The vacuum is bugged and useless as it is. I agree that just reworking it into a leafblower and improve the physics would be the way to go.
6. This is being actively discussed on Discord and it seems that the consensus among players (including myself) is that it should continue to stay free. I am however open for adding a survival mode. Would be really cool to expand even more on that.
7. Yes, this would be awesome but a long way before my engine could handle something like that. I wish I could have made this game in the Noita engine. :D
7.5 Yeah, a lesser solution would work.
8. This one is controversial. A surprising amount of people do not want me to increase the base speed. I'm thinking I should just upper the thruster upgrade limit and add things such as dash/blink etc to help with movement.

i REALLY enjoyed this game, if it wasnt obvious. probably my new favorite game of all time, assuming progress of its development goes well!
Wow! You're too kind but thank you! ❤️ I'll do my best not to disappoint you.
