Fluid handling for Lava and Steam

I can't seem to use Pump for Lava nor Steam.
Lava can be cryo to Cinder (transportable powder) and lavafied again with flamethrower but currently it's hard to automate.
Steam has a tendency to get stuck in grotto cielings. I found no way to direct it beside blocks. I managed some funnel over the wet seed planter but it's cumbersome.
How do you handle steam ?

What do you want to do with lava and steam?

Lava can be used to burn slag.
Steam is condensed into water when reaching the sky. Controling it would prevent having water in unwanted places.

Yeah, I use block for that. If you do it well enough you can control where the steam goes and where the water fall.
