In general, don't be afraid to respec. The in-game description, along with the name of Achievement 129, make it seem scary, but really it's more like a prestige layer in between Eternity and Unity. This is especially true right after unlocking a new DTP, as that makes it very easy to get back your DP progress. If there's a sharp increase in the DP required for the next DTP, that likely means that you have enough DTP to unlock a new combination.
It's also worth respeccing to farm eternities, supernovas, or AP periodically, once you have the DTP to do so.

Although it kinda felt like game progress got worse for me when I tried the lab ratio mentioned in there of 1 gen power exponent : 5 common exponent. I went right back to a 1:1 ratio for those. (Saw that 1:1 ratio as advice in some other topic on here before the dilation tree was even added to the game. It seemed to work best then and it still seems to work best now. But there's room in all the moving parts of this game that your results might be different.) Game felt horribly sluggish for me with a 1:5 ratio there and it sped back up when I went back to 1:1.
Personally though, it's been taking a while to try to get myself past this part:
That line in the guide makes the climb from 14 to 16 DTP sound so trivial / fast and not worth spelling out at all, but it's been rough for me to stumble through it to the 15th and after... have I been at this for... 2 weeks? 3 weeks? longer? Certainly a lot longer than following that guide from 3 to 14 took me. This weeks-long grind from 15 to 16 isn't quite over for me yet but I'm finally getting close to it now. I can't imagine how it'll be after that if it's supposed to slow down even more than this at 16. (Although that guide makes it sound like achievement 140 is key to pushing through that wall after reaching 16, like you wouldn't have gotten it yet. And I already got that one a few weeks ago at 13 or 14 or 15 DTP.)
But I think going straight down the middle of tree with 3 pts to start building Eternities, which also boosts everything else with the Eternity milestones bonus, is the best choice. Only after getting a few million Eternities should you respec to C 1, Top 1-1 . I think that should get you the 4th DTP kind of easily at which point respec to C1, B 1-1-1.
Again, I can't verify that it's the best choice but it makes sense to me in hindsight.
Edit: I do know at that point I also found the 1:1 lab ratio worked best for me.
