Better challenge times -> Alot slower IP/S
What i understood, the better (lower) challenge times you get, the better IP/S would get.

Now i just lowered all but C5 by a big bit, no other settings changed, and still 4 minutes after the average time, it still has not reached the same total IP to collect. Right now it seems useless to get lower challenge times since progress gets slowed down considerably.

Few skills are tied to your current IP. So if you buy something expensive and your IPs drop very low, you may see your IP/s go down.

Ah that could explain it perhaps. I guess i need to run a few rounds of collecting IP:s to see the benefit.

you can see the benefits. my total challenge time is 0.26

15:2 - get more ip based on challenge time. x17.24
15:3 - gen1 stronger. x29.38
15:4 - gen2 stronger. x21.31
16:3 - 4th promo stronger based on 9th challenge time (0.03 = x4.40)
17:2 - more inf based on total challenge time x15

not sure what "and still 4 minutes after the average time" refers to. getting better challenge times only "slows down progress" when you're idling to get them. in general the smoothest progression is only doing them when you can complete them in a few seconds, except for maybe the first time you're breaking infinity

yeah what does it exactly mean or scale with time, is there an max and is it only to reduce time.

I comprehend what you're saying here, but I don't think that bonus mechanic is what's in play at all.

I was getting 200 IP per infinity and then once I acquired 15;2, I dropped down to 32 IP per infinity. By gaining 32 IP at a time, I'm already back up to the same IP as I was when I purchased 15;2 and still only getting 32 IP per infinity. That means that it's not some factor based on quantity of banked IP. I'm not seeing how that can be intended. I think it's a bug because at worse, a 1.00x multiplier should have kept it at 200. I fail to see how anything should be subtracted from progression by getting an upgrade.

Thats so uninformative.... Set your autoinfinity higher if you want to get more IP per infinity. Or start talking about IP/s and its optimization, cuz if you set autoinfinity to 32, you will be getting 32 IP per infinity even with 10000 upgrades. The change will be in getting it faster.

You made an assumption. I don't have autoinfinity unlocked; there's nothing to set for me yet.

My infinities take about 46 seconds. Before 15;2 I was receiving 200 IP per infinity. After 15;2 I received 32 IP per infinity. Both situations were taking ~46 seconds. The change happened immediately upon purchasing 15;2.

Possible that purchasing 15;2 before completing all 9 challenges introduces an issue....

EDIT: I'm just going to add this theory here as to what may be occurring. Having only completed 8 of 9 challenges, my "Challenge time sum:" in "Statistics" is 3600:01:25:52. Now that 01:25:52 portion is the sum of the 8 challenges I have completed and I think the 3600 is accounting for days as some sort of default for not having an actual completion time across all 9 challenges. I'll know two things momentarily: 1) whether the completion of the 9th challenge with an actual time is relevant to this issue and 2) whether that default value is the culprit for reducing my IP per infinity.

Final EDIT: Confirmed that purchasing 15;2, 15;3, or 15;4 before completing all 9 challenges reduces IP gain. The moment I finished challenge #9, the multipliers in those infinity buffs all changed to reflect an actual value. In this case, 15;2 went from 1.00x to 1.43x. Perhaps it's working as intended but I do think that the dev should put some information in the game that the infinity buffs that rely upon challenge completion will not help you (they actually hurt you) until all challenges are completed at least once.

Apologies OP for hijacking your topic. I thought we were talking about the thing regarding our IP gain but it wasn't until much later that I realized we were poking at two different factors.

1/ I made no assumption, i reacted to your information

2/ upgrades that works based on sum of challange time dont reduce your IP gain. They just gives x1 multiplier until you got all challanges cuz without all challanges completed its virtualy infinite time.

3/ as i said in very first post, if you see less IP "immediately upon purchasing" (your words) the upgrade, its probably cuz you went low on IP. I cant check the game atm for exact info, but there are few infinity upgrades that provide multipliers based on your current IP. So "downgrade" is not caused by bug of bought upgrade, its caused by spending IPs. Its very noticable on low IP lvls.
