You are not close to Eternity challenges yet :)
At that stage, the game's a balance between farming IPs, farming infinities (by making them automatically reset as soon as possible,) and buying upgrades and generators to be able to farm IPs and infinities better.
The above quote stems from eventually unlocking infinity challenges, which are harder runs that give a benefit once you complete them, and also multiply your IP gain as well. For now, the pathway is to just... loop through to infinity a few times?
If this reset turns you off of the game, but you still want to keep going, do be warned that there's something not dissimilar later, but you progress at least 4 times faster than before.
