There's no "autobuy" involved for animals, and APs are not something that resets.

you have max AP because of upgrade 4 and 5 in the middle tree! from a certain DTP until unity you need these two upgrades at 5/5

what ? i think you either misunderstood what is AP, or you misunderstood the tree. AP shouldn't go down at any point, there is no max AP whatsoever. When you get AP you can't lose or use them, they just multiply your DP gains.

I'm scared to switch my tree because it's been 4 days and i'm at e768,000,000 out of e861,000,000. I will probably have do it though, because that loss would most likely make it impossible to reach supernova 156 with 282k AP. :'(

The tree upgrades mentioned by AlphaZer0 boosts your Supernova bonuses. One of the Supernova bonus is an amount of free extra AP (for example I get 148 666 AP from my Supernova level with both those upgrades at 5, but I only get 314 AP if they are at 0). If you remove points from those upgrades, you do lose the free AP afforded by the Supernova bonus. You'll get them back by putting back points into those upgrades.

I guess I don't see my AP move down at all because all three setups I use (to farm Dilation, SN and AP/ET) have those upgrades at 5. I don't remember AP ever going down while I was zooming up to DTP 40, but I also don't remember paying much attention to the exact APs I had at any given point in time until I reached DTP 40.
