Beating the 1 million IP gap?
I'm a relatively new player, I managed to get the infinity upgrades 16-1 through 16-3, but the next set of upgrades costs million IP, which I barely have 50k. I'm able to generate a decent amount of IP regularly (like 4k) but still that is a small amount compared to 1 million

Are there any tips to speed this up besides just brute forcing waiting till one million?

You need to get more Infinity Points per second spent playing, which is actually a lot simpler than many seem to think: The longer you wait before triggering infinities, the more IPs you'll gain per second spent. Also, lowering challenge times may help you, as well as gathering infinities.

Long runs are a thing that will happen a lot in this game. And by "long run" I don't mean five or ten minutes - at times you'll gain several magnitudes more of a currency (Infinity Points is only one of many) per second by taking hours between resets.

Tsukino is right - they're the expert around here, always answering Discussion questions. I also recommend putting IP towards upgrading your Generators. Their power-boost will help make Challenges go faster.
Make sure your redoing challenges to lower your completion times too. Some of the upgrade multipliers are based on total completion time. The lower the total time for all 9, the higher the IP gain.
Make sure to finish all challenges and break infinity. Then set up for long runs and leave it running for a while. With auto promo 2,1,3,4 +25/1 and auto prestige 0/1000/.2 you should reach a mil within an hour or 2. Make sure to also improve on your challenge times as the total time will also increase some infinity upgrade multiplicators.

Thanks everyone, I took yer advice about the challenge times, but also found that the auto infinity collector kinda slowed progress down, due to the upgrades that add a bonus for how long a run has been going on

I turned that off, did the challenges way faster, bought more generators and I've been getting millions of IP now. Thank you so much

Hello, I was just going to create a post about these adjustments of the prestige and promotion thx, and another thing the issue of automate infinite I disable it or put it in some parameter to make it profitable ?
Greetings

Hey, i personally just disabled automated infinities entirely and havent really found much use for it. It's usually the best to just manually collect the IP after ~1h and buy more upgrades and generators. If you can't buy those (like if you leave the game over night) its best to just leave 1 long run, but with quicker promotions (+10 each)

I am getting a million in about an hour and bought all the 17 upgrades. No idea how I will get the next lot as they are hundreds of billions. Should something else be happening that I am missing as that would take years to get ?
At that point, you may need to farm infinities and buy more generators. Also lowering the challenge times can increase your progress by a lot.

I got my challenge time down as low as possible for now and am making 6000 IP every 20 seconds. The next generator is 100 million so that is going to be one hell of a long grind it seems. All generator upgrades are now also 100 million. I guess if it is the only choice I will have to try it. Might try some automation variation to try and get the time down but I think I have the best one possible for now.

Long runs are a thing that will happen a lot in this game. And by "long run" I don't mean five or ten minutes - at times you'll gain several magnitudes more of a currency (Infinity Points is only one of many) per second by taking hours between resets.

Or to put it in perspective: If you earn 6000 IP every 20 seconds, that is 300 IP/s. If you run the game for twenty minutes instead of twenty seconds, you would be getting a higher IP/s sum, since the whole point of the "Progres to x10 IP" bar is that it multiplies your IPs gained the longer you let an infinity run.

So let's make a supposition that letting the game run for twenty minutes "only" raised your IP/s to 400. This would mean you get 8000 IPs in twenty seconds. If you let the game run for an hour and got IP/s to, let's say, and being extremely underestimating of game mechanics, 700 IP/s, that would mean for the same twenty second mark you've been using, you would gain 14k IP.

Now let's break it down the other way around:
- 300 IP/s after one hour of playing: 1080000 IP
- 400 IP/s after one hour of playing: 1440000 IP
- 700 IP/s after one hour of playing: 2520000 IP. Yes, that's around 2.5 times more IPs per second.

Keep in mind that this is, again, an underestimated, quick math to demonstrate how that "x10 IP" mechanic works. In reality, it could happen that in one hour you get 3000 IP/s or more, instead of 300.

In short, the longer you let an infinity run, the more IPs you will get per second spent in that infinity. Those billions of IPs are only a wall if you don't figure out how IP/s work, but unfortunately, the game does little to emphasize how important long runs can be.

I tried doing a longer run but every time I do it I get stuck at around 90 to 95 percent. If I could get past that problem I would be doing this.
That's strange, the x10 IP bar may slow down when close to the next step but it shouldn't get stuck unless something in your automation is preventing you from gaining score.

I seem to have done something and now it is working. I set the automation for prestige at x2 minimum, the rest on zero and I set the automation for promotion to +1 for all four of them. Currently at 3.7 million, reset is set to 10 million. Maybe I should aim higher.
Don't reset infinity on a number, let the game run for half an hour or an hour and see how many IP/s you get (it's in the statistics tab, just in case.) There's no reason to do shorter runs unless you're farming infinities (which should be as close to "zero seconds" as possible.)
