Dilation Max Score vs. DP gain

How do they correlate? Does going into Dilation give you DP gain? Whats the point of doing it except for Achievements if not?

If "current max score" (on the left, goes up while in a dilation) is larger than "max score" (in the center) you can press "exit dilation" to lock that in as your new "max score". "DP income" is derived from "max score" (and some upgrades affect DP income as well, of course).

Like at the moment I'm looking at e75755390 max score and 78.9e426 DP income while current max score is at about e79.7M and rising. Exiting the dilation right now, I end up with e79751366 max score and 148e426 DP income.
