Lab setup in Dilation after patch?
the previous meta was 50/50 between gen. and common exponent. Has anyone found a better setup after patch? I have~3500LP

It depends on progression, actually. I used 1:5 setup and 1:3 before the update with varying results (but much better than the speed that 'meta' could give,) but now 1:4 seems to work better for me.

Since there's also dilation tree upgrades changing things for me, that setup may not work for others.

thanks, i'll do some more testing. I was trying to test if the first four lab upgrades were worth investing into after the patch and I couldn't find a setup better than just taking the gen and common exp.

The previous meta was 1:2 not 50/50 and it's still 1:2.

1:4 seems to be quite a bit better where i'm at

1:4 and 1:3 are both getting me far more EP/s from one hour runs than either the "meta" or 1:2. It's a very "YMMV" thing, it seems.
i know its late probably but what i do is 50/50 until i can reach the softcap in generator and after that everything to general exponent

Eventually it is 0:1, so just do what works in the moment

I am getting a "softcapped" notice for #6 Common Exponent - should I ignore that? If I respect it and put all further points into #5, I am slowly nearing 1:1
Even when softcapped (and with thousands of points poured into it) it still overpowers most other lab upgrades, to the point 1:2 or 1:3 ratio will carry you through most/all of endgame - unless you find that going full common exponent is faster for you.
well, according to guides on the discord and such, it seems 0:1 is the better option now after unity once you unlocked dilation.
However, before you reach dilation, 1:2 seems to be better.

In my first few unities I typically swapped from 1:2 in animal phase to 1:3 in dilation. Particularly early on in dilation, generators are of minimal value. By the time I had around 10unities and a bunch of DU bonus and DP gain to speed up dilation, I got to the point of just keeping things 1:2 the whole time, and eventually went 1:1 when I started automating research.
once you reach unity you will likely have so many free lab levels that the assignable ones make almost no difference in terms of ratio, so thats why everything into #6 at that point seems best.
playing with the ratio only gets somehow important again for some of the trials along the way

This is probably a lot more basic question and an example of educational failing, but...how does everyone comprehend the ratios out, actually?

Like, for instance, my understanding of 1:4 is "Hit #5's +1 once, then #6's +1 four times", or rather set the custom button to +40, then clicking that for #6, then +10 for #5, and repeating until I run out of points.

IS that actually a 1:4 ratio, though, or really a 1:5 ratio, and have I thus misinterpreted them this whole time?

Simple answer yes.

When you get into larger numbers and don't want to hit the buttons so much...to get a 1:4 ratio, take the total number of pts and divide by 5. Put that into the custom slot.

Example 15,000 pts/ 5= 3000. So 3000 is the "1" and 12,000 is the "4"

Hope that makes sense.

Oookay, and then do the same-1 for tighter ratios; /4 for 1:3, /3 for 1:2, then...AHhhh, okay, it suddenly feels more obvious getting to 1:1 and realizing that's literally just 1/2 to both, thank you much!
