Otherwise... Yeah, GOG might be the best option, though I feel for you on not wanting more launchers front. A small but there reason I've refused to touch any Epic or Blizzard games in a long time now.
It's currently NOT on sale despite the 'Harvest Sale,' alas, but it usually go for really dang cheap quite often, so... Yeah, if you're really itching for that one module, it's simply the only current legal way of obtaining it.
So if I purchase on GOG it comes wrapped into the complete NWN2 package. I am not sure I can separate the MOW campaign from the rest of the package without having similar DRM hangups. I really have no way of knowing until I try it myself, unless someone has a success story they can share?
FIY, the GOG version doesn't have any DRM. Even their launcher is totally optional.
Doesn't help with the Steam integration stuff, but hey, does let you do stuff like slapping NWN 2 on a thumbdrive or something.
Still, sorry to hear the easy option didn't work.
Decided to install again. Documenting the process here.
D/l'ed Westgate from Gamersgate. Their installer yielded an NSIS error but I was able to work around it by simplifying the install name to something like "Install.exe" and then opening a command window w/admin privileges, in the command window navigating to the directory where Install.exe was located and running the exe as such:
C:\Games\Downloads\Gamersgate\GamersGate temporary files\26781>Install.exe /NCRC
You will need your Westgate key to install which Gamersgate provides.
Their installer installed Westgate directly into my Steam NWN2 installation. I didn't need to do anything else.
While I'm here I also had an issue running the NWN2 game (forgetting about Westgate for a second). The game starts off in 1024x768. When changing resolution in game, the game hung. The solution was to edit the nwn2.ini file.
