Game crashes immediately when trying to transition between areas. (Storm of Zehir)

Hey all - Storm of Zehir crash question

My game routinely crashes when I try to enter areas. It does not even show the loading screen, just crashes. So far, I've not been unable to enter any areas permenently, because I've been able to verify the integrity of the game cache and/or changing settings, and then found myself able to enter areas (only to then crash in a different area with the same settings, even if I'm just returning to an area I've been to.)

It didn't seem to happen in Samarch. I'm wondering if the Sword Coast map is too big, and the game keeps mishandling the map files?

Either way, if someone has found a permanent solution, other than giving up playing the game, I'd be appreciative.

For the record, I have no mods. Just plain Steam install.

why don't you get community patch? maybe it will help?

As an update, it seems that I can just re-start the game and try entering the same area again. After trying a few times, I end up being able to load the area.

I figure the problem might have something to do with whether the game is in full screen, or has transitioned from full screen or back, or has been minimized - the game has no problem actually doing these things, but alt-tabbing or switching between full screen and windowed can be the literally only thing I do differently, since I'm just loading the same save multiple times to enter an area, apparently succeeding or crashing at random.
