why do i lose energy everytime i leave a location? (FIXED)

the title basically. i lose 7-8 energy every time i leave a location, and i'm not sure why. i don't see any status effects that have to do with that. is it a bug? i tried reloading. its just really annoying and i don't know why its happening. EDIT: i kicked the mechanic hitch hiker and it solved it :) ty

If you're 100% sure you're status free, and not showing tired, hungry, starving or something, the next thing I'd look into are your hitchhikers (if you have any). Sometimes they have negative traits that have stealthy effects that aren't obvious until you read all their details.

This is my guess, too. It triggers when leaving a location and gets really oppressive if you have a crappy car. Buy some cheap cosmetics and a steering wheel cover pronto, or give him the boot.

It also appears to be quite buggy. For some reason it counts cosmetic slots as upgrade slots and even then it seems to apply the debuff multiple times. I just tested it, leaving town with a total of 5 empty upgrade/cosmetic slots combined only to get hit with the -5 energy twice (for no explicable reason) causing me to black out and take damage.

You lose 5 energy... the problem is, for some reason you lose the energy twice.
Is sad, cos Guy's helpful especially cos you don't need a garage to install car upgrades.

That mechanic skill needs to be nerfed, starting another trip and having the energy completely drain not five feet from the town isn't real fun.

I find it hilarious to imagine the mechanic being such a pill that it completely wipes you out. Like, you've been driving with him a few days, getting to know him, and then he opens up and it's to winge on you for not doing all the car upgrades he's been talking about, and he doesn't stop until you're shaking on the side of the road 5 feet out of town. Like "you hear that engine noise? That's the sound of your inadequacy. Your car is weak, like your sense of purpose, and you will both break down unless you add a new spoiler and a 'keep driving' decal"
