At least let us have one before we're drunk. The "one beer and now the game is impossible" thing is pretty lame.

You're legally allowed 1 beer in the UK at least. Especially a 330ml like it looks like.

The game gives you a "sad" debuff. The game presents a beer as a way to "get you happy". So you naturally use a beer to remove the debuff. Then you're massively punished for it.

Driving drunk is supposed to be difficult. Also, it's not even close to difficult, let alone impossible; you just need to set up your skills and glove box appropriately.

Weed. The Runaway Bride has a skill that gives Happy when perfect. I think The Girl has a passive where you get happy every time you get inspired, but can't confirm because I've only had her once and never since. Turns out that's the Bride's capstone passive.

The Girl's Lv2 skill removes all active status effects (though her Lv2 passive gives you a random negative effect for every positive one, so you're likely to get sad more often). The Child's reward for completing her quest is an item that grants the Happy status, with 5 uses. Reading will usually get rid of most short-lasting effects. There might be other ones I'm missing.

I've survived a trip while drunk, you only will get arrested if you take damage from a threat warning when pulled over by cop, in my experience.

(I lived there for 6 months, I'm actually really enjoying the Swedishness of the scenery and town names.)

Driving drunk is hard but not impossible. You definitely don't want to do it early on before you unlock a good set of skills and upgrades for your car. One of the best configurations ive found is to have 2+armour for every road event, and unlock all hiking skills this gives you a passive where armour destroys threat that damages it. If you have 2 armour, and you have 2 attacking threat, you can just press the gas pedal to end your turn, and it will resolve it with the armour. this means you can focus on clearing "all but 2". My current setup gives me 4 armour for every road event which makes most encounters trivial.

Also, make sure you sleep to refresh all your skills before trying it. Choose a shorter span of road, and a road type that you're setup to deal with. I recommend country roads, energy is the easiest resource to replenish while driving. Definitely do not do it on a rough road, as that adds shields, and city roads add money threats, and motorways add debuffs.

You can also fit headlights and do it at night, which will give you the opportunity to clear three threats every round using one skill if you take out the one with the note.

Do you know whereabouts you were (city? country? regular motorway?)/any info about your car (did you have any lucky items?)

I can't get the cops to show up to save my life, I've driven drunk on about 10 roads without a cop showing up. I'm trying to get the "Jail" ending/achievement, it's the last one I need, and I can't get it at all.

I can't get the cops to show up to save my life, I've driven drunk on about 10 roads without a cop showing up. I'm trying to get the "Jail" ending/achievement, it's the last one I need, and I can't get it at all.

I've been pulled over in multiple areas, it seems to be pure chance but more than likely increased when drunk

Drunk questline is a bait in this game. it kill off 99% of the run if you tried to do it early. IMO drunk mechanis need to be balanced a bit more.

I thought the police will arrest you only if you suffer a breakdown, not from simply taking any sort of damage.

if game is impossible after one ingame beer, sounds like it's a problem with your skill lmao. i drove ingame drunk, high on weed and cocaine and besides headaches and timer on events nothing was an issue.

maybe u get to jail faster once u have a pistol in your car, i don't know if it works as i had 2 times a pistol in my car because of a mission of that guy that wants to go to cobra casino misson, but i discarded both guns after i got them, i also think you need a gun for that mr mudd&mr gold achievement

You don't need a gun for that achievement. You only need to get 300 $ to pay off The Stranger's debt after you've taken him to El Cobra casino.
