Better yet, find a driving game thats just that. A driving game. You dont like the gameplay loop, big whoop, so go play something else instead of complaining.
Aww youre being harsh on the kid. Reading the game page, and apparently using their eyes and comprehending what they see in a trailer isn't their strong suit.
Also kinda glad we had this demo, but I wish it wasn't timed. Getting a no licenses when I try and play it now :(
That's already in the Game. It's called "The Gas Pedal". You hit Gas and skip every Road-Event whilst taking Damage from every remaining Threat to its according resource. And you won't get any Hitchhiker-EXP either this way.
And to the OP-Clown:
You should ask your Mom what it's like to have a Driver's License.
The Game is very realistic. All Road-Events happen in Real-Life as well.
Ever drove behind a Tractor, unable to pass?
It slows you down & can make you tired, whilst waisting your Gas.
Which is why it gives you Energy-Threats and Gas-Threats.
Where you have to use your Skills such as "RELAX" or eat a Chewing-Gum to adapt to the Situation whilst waiting for an Opportunity to pass, aka. clearing the Event.
If you don't manage your Mood in this Situation or become nervous/uneasy you'll get penalized by your own actions.
Have you ever drove over a bunch of Potholes? It's a pain for your Car and can get really expensive if you don't drive carefully.
That's why you get a lot of Durability-Threats in this Event in the Game.
On your Topic towards the Objective of a Friend living at the other End of the Country...
You'll probably understand this Logic once you've finished your Highschool Years IRL.
Because, Spoiler-Alert, most Students don't go to the same College/University and therefore move to different Towns/Cities all over the Country.
(Applies to most Countries in the Industrialized World)
The Story of the Game very much starts with the premise that YOU recently graduated and are now lost for what to do with your Life, so you've decided to visit your best Friend and have a go playing some Video Games over the Weekend, enjoying Summertime.
(Which is btw. only ONE out of MULTIPLE Endings you can get in the Game.
Even in the Demo.
Because, get what, you don't have to visit your Friend's House. D: Shocking, I know.)
And you've clearly never drove a Car in your Life when you think that "Drunk Driving" is "uNrEaLiStIc". No. It is very much a reality for a huge chunk of People in the World.
Should they do it? No, of course not! Are they still going to do it? Yes!
Same as People constantly driving faster than allowed and getting Tickets.
If you decide to be drunk whilst driving in this Game,
you'll get penalized really, REALLY hard. You're almost certain to crash. IRL & In-Game.
Always accompanied by the Sentence "Drunk Driving is a really bad Idea".
So, my only conclusion is, that you didn't understood the Game,
nor have you played it long enough to get an understanding.
I think I do understand this Roadtrip-RPG and that's why I'm currently on 8+ hours into the Demo and I'm still not sure if I've seen all there is to explore as of this current Version.
I know you've abandoned this Thread, but I hope I can still reach some other People reading this Thread. :)
Cheers.
You dont get to have your own truth. Also, complaining about drink driving when games like GTA exist is facepalm inducing.
I never said that, what I say is that it is the minimum of common sense to accept that developers are free to do what they want, someone who does not have this minimum respect for those who create games does not deserve to be called a gamer.
After that, everyone is free to like a game or not, there are plenty of games that I don't like, that doesn't mean I'm going to insult the creativity of the developers.
Besides, people in the industry often say “a game that comes out is always a miracle in itself”. So let's respect these developers thanks to whom we have plenty of games to enjoy.
It's a shame that people like OP decide what a game is before playing it, then throw a toddler tantrum because the game isn't what they wanted it to be.
This post reads like someone hating on Elden Ring because the enemies are too hard and the world is gross and depressing.
Same vibes as those people who made posts on reddit about Cyberpunk 2077 before it released, talking about mechanics like "Imagine if you could date any NPC on the street" based on nothing, where they just spoke as if these features were basically confirmed, then got upset when their made up mechanic wasn't actually in the game lol
