yeah I don't get it, I try to have my defense up at end of every round, heal bandages, do the best attacks i can and still only win 1 in 20 fights? I am stuck on 4 and S1 and can't seem to win. Try to pick pocket when I can to try to buy more stuff. 2 hours of losing and losing. Any hints at least? Robot, S1 seems impossible. Perhaps there is some kind of stat increase that I am missing?

i found a card that put exhaustion on the foe, that really helped.

I agree. The only thing squishier than Kannons joosi booti is the starter deck that can't even beat the first human opponent on its own.

One thing I wondered is: where the tutorial/manual? I can't work a deck builder without understanding the mechanics.

The game requires you to build your deck strategically, and then execute near perfectly against enemy.

Fights go south quickly when Kannon gets debuffed. Certain enemies have buffs that go out of control pretty quickly (like the fighter). Certain mechanics just stack against the player; Kannon loses her shield every round but enemies can stack endlessly.

There is a card that allows Kannon to cancel an enemy action. This a real game changer to get early on because it allow you to stop enemies from debuffing or getting hits in. Using an item that lowers energy cost makes it even better.

As far as certain combat effects go: Sap is useless. It shows no discernible effect on attack, defense, or shield. Exhaustion lowers enemy attack and is a boon for dealing with certain opponents. Contraception is supposed to prevent the bad end counter from going up on defeat but I've seen it rise anyway.

A thing I found that helps is at the start, when you receive the 'rare' card, look for one called The Zone. The price of every card in your hand WHEN YOU USE IT drops by one. e.g. Using Reload will cost 0, but Handgun still costs 1, but most importantly, it drops that big 2-cost block card down to 1, so battles are much easier. Sadly, The Zone still costs 2 itself, but hey, better than nothing. And of course, it's RNG if you get it, so just keep resetting 'til you do.
