Summoner 3 [Proposal]
Just wrote a rather lengthy letter in proposal to THQ Nordic for Summoner 3, I'm hoping I get a bite. What do you think about crowdfunding this release? With recent success of other concepts I don't see how this would be impossible.

No word yet from THQ Nordic. I agree a remastered version would be fantastic, but from a marketing strategy its going to need to compete with recent developments to make the ROI more attractive. They do not posses the legacy source code making it somewhat difficult to revamp the original release. It will have to be something with unique features to pull a new crowd while balancing original elements of the franchise.

Keep in mind the parent company the line came from and the history involved.. I imagine they're only vested in safe bets, learning from their predecessors. I can understand the caution there and I respect that.

To me a crowdfund, kickstarter, or even an announcement would be the best option to at least entertain the idea and gauge the interest.

I hope to hear from them soon. They just recently acquired Timesplitters (2000 - 2005) to their collection so I know theres activity in the gearbox.

I am dead set however that Summoner 3 would be their top contender and with 10 different studios its possible to achieve.

even a complete remaster of 1, story was really good, just update graphics, maybe make more skills and stuff like dragon age and boom great game again

I'm an actual game designer and company founder. I tried contacting Nordic by phone a while back myself and even with my credentials I could not get a reply even though they report publicly they are interested in updating the old games in their library. My group is doing a AAA MMORPG so you'd think we'd get a bite *shrugs* We'd just need the maps and the game mechanics detailed for conversion to a modern engine.

Summoner 3 was in the plans back in the day, the guy who made the OST for the first game was contacted to do more music (he talks about it on his YT channel). I wish it had happened, I love this series. I pray THQ Nordic bring this IP back after Darksiders 3.

Sugar, do you have this YouTube channel? I was always a fan of Summoner 1 & 2. Would love to see a remake by the way of either the two, especially a port for Summoner 2. Summoner 3 on the other hand would be amazing in this day, I would totaly agree to this kickstart.

Yeah, a link would be a plus for sure. Maybe he would know how to get past the commication barriers with the current IP holder and get something going.

I honestly don't know why you would be excited about such a prospect.

If they produced a game along the lines that you describe, it wouldn't be anything that fans of Summoner would enjoy or appreciate, so what's the point? You'd get a game called "Summoner 3", but you wouldn't get a Summoner game.

I can't predict the future, but I can make an assumption based upon the available evidence.

sorry for a late reply.
I don't suppose you could share your proposal for Summoner 3? I'm curious to see the concept you have come up with. I'll understand if you would want to keep it under wraps just in case but maybe you could just away a few details, such as the setting.

Umm don't you mean Volition? not to be rude but I beleive Volition is the actual Dev and THQ is publisher. If you go to THQ you will not find summoner on their site. You might say cause it's so dated but umm go to Volition's website both games are there. That might explain also why THQ doesn't have the batch files for summoner 2 as THQ has stated ...

Volition and THQ were bought out by another company. I'll have to look them up again. They public state that they want a third part to update the games but they haven't been responding.

I came to post that there is about a .1% chance of hearing back before realizing this thread was from 2018...

Shame....I would be so down for a S3.
