MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion

15 characters is great but also a little concerning, initially at least.
What I mean is will each character feel unique? Shredder's Revenge did a pretty good job making the turtles feel pretty set apart, but even so I wish they were more distinct, like they each had their own unique double jump attacks and jump supers for example. Casey and April were IMO very uninspired and wish they took the later DLC model where each character was pretty unique!

All of that is to say is how will Tribute, the same guys behind SR, make each 15 character stand apart from each other, gameplay-wise? It's very possible they share the same sentiment as me and want there to be a more diverse cast than before. But also knowing them, as an indie company, that resources aren't infinite so they may have to make some concessions (IE characters feeling kinda samey) in order to get all 15 characters in the base roster out in a timely fashion.

I think it will be a great game and lots of fun no matter what, just hoping everyone feels pretty unique

I definitely can understand the concern, it's reasonable. With that said, I have a fair amount of confidence in the devs in the wake of TMNT:SR, since they were able to keep things pretty fresh throughout, with later-added characters becoming increasingly unique and varied.

At the end of the day a bunch of the core movesets are bound to either be similar or have some degree of overlap somewhere in there, but one of the advantages that Shredder's Revenge (and hopefully this) has is that the pacing and progression through a given level was fast enough and hectic enough that you just sorta zoned in and had fun regardless of who you were playing. If they can replicate that for this title, I can see spending even more time in this than I already did (still do, really) in TMNT:SR.

The answer is simple. You look back at the brawlers that Dotemu did in the past and see if the characters felt different. If they did it in the past, they'll do it here as well.

Not to mention that it's actually EASIER to make the characters feel unique in this one because they have tons of material to reference and be inspired by from the comics.

Streets of Rage absolutely, but Shredder's Revenge, not as much as I would have hoped especially with April/Casey kits and certain moves like double jump attacks (though still fantastic and I prefer it to SoR4 overall), and Tribute worked on Turtles. But if they manage to nail the fun factor down again that's what really matters. Character uniqueness would be a (big) plus obviously, but what you said about source material is a good point. We just gotta wait and see how they handle the control scheme. It'd be incredible if they make them as unique as SoR4 characters.
