Are you part of the team? Do you know if there is any plans as of yet for multiplayer? I understand it's early and the answer may be no.
Kind of the "Best of Both Worlds" scenario, however it does require that you literally have to create two worlds. As long as I can play SP, and in my SP game there is nothing blocked from completion due to a MP requirement, then I'm good. That's difficult to do though, which I guess is why Medieval Dynasty went all out and made two separate worlds. Though even in Medieval Dynasty you can play in the MP world solo.
Personally, in a game that's going to have both I think the devs really need to nail down the gameplay and features in SP first, get the game working as intended. Then work in MP, either into the existing world or build another one. I think this worked well for Medieval Dynasty, which I admit worried me initially, but the way they did it worked fine.
Ideally some random map generating would be even better. Kinda boring when the maps are revealed instantaneously considering the Vikings were explorers, random seeded maps would add a lot to the immersion IMO
