The King is Watching

The King is Watching

Demo Feedback (Can't believe this game is only in demo)
First off, want to say that this was really fun, the game was guided enough that I didn't feel like I need to follow a guide of any sort, and the more I played, the better I got (I know crazy, but I went from surviving double digit waves, to "beating" the game in 6 hours). I'll split up into a list of what I thought stood out, what was good for the game, and what could change.

Pros:
Really easy to use, intuitive, and being able to drag or use the wasdqe keys makes the game really nice.

Starting with a king that can move things. I can't imagine what the game would look like if I was unable to move buildings, I'd almost suggest having that as a permanent feature, and not king specific. Especially when it comes to the +25% production tiles. Sure I'd usually just throw wheat or wood on those, but I want to be able to move the buildings around it. If I couldn't constantly move those buildings around the +25% tile, it would be extremely difficult getting to later waves. I do realize you could sell and then re-buy buildings, but that could be an utter pain.

More game UI, again everything was easy, movement was seamless, shift click to move a building was a great idea, even having spacebar be pause was nice.

Upgrade tree. After games, it's nice receiving a reward, especially one that gets much better the longer you survive. I don't know how many games I've played, where it's not worth surviving till later rounds, because the later you go, the less reward you get. This did not feel this way

I'm excited to see the rest of the game, I don't even know what plan you have for the other four buildings, or the other upgrade trees you will add, but I'm sure it will make the game all the better

Not showing a reward if you fail to complete a wave before the next one spawns. I like this mechanic as it throws in a sense of urgency

Cons:
Honestly there wasn't really that much, the only slightly frustrating thing, was the trader/trades don't come up after a battle after you beat the game. I'd like to check out the t3 buildings, and that's really difficult to do in the limited time you have between the beginning and endless. Again, that's not really a con though, as this would not happen in full game release.

The destruction option. This is the only thing that bugged me, typically I don't think someone would demolish multiple buildings at once. When I was playing the game, I would often demolish a building, and try to put an existing building in its place, this would then demolish the building I was trying to move. Honestly up to the game maker, but possibly having a toggle/different option for keeping destruction on would be nice. To be fair, after the first few times I did this, I got use to it and didn't have a problem after the first couple hours, it was just annoying in the beginning, but that might just be the learning curve players need to overcome.

The UI in the submenus wasn't as intuitive as the rest of the game, I feel it would be easy for someone to miss being able to expand their army by clicking in the "king's army" submenu, or know they can store troops when troops on field are at max. Being able to store troops and doing quick deployment was a game changer, instead of just sending 1-2 troops to their death, I could let the enemies reach my walls then deploy all at once. Someone that didn't know this UI existed would have a harder more frustrating time.

General Discussion:
As said above, this is a great game, I can't wait to see where it goes, and it seems like it's pretty much on its finish touches. I didn't run into any serious bugs or problems I couldn't overcome, I thought the art was really cool, and the concept of the game is awesome. I wasn't optimistic at first, but after playing, I realized just how cool of a game it was. If you were to release the full game as it is, I don't think people would complain. Also, I usually don't pay for games on steam, but I would pay for this one, I hope everyone else will be able to see this game the way I do.

P.S. Last boss fight was really cool, shredded my army and had to use all stored spells, for sure had me holding my breath.

One last thing I forgot, I wasn't really sure how the 20% boost worked. I assumed that I needed to keep it in the kings eye for it to work, but the description didn't say it needed to be watched
