Coy / Plat
Hi there !
Please i need you. I'm discovering this great game... One point i don't feel my friends....On strategy map, when you click right on an unit, you can see your organised army. I'm French.
I don't undrstand what is Coy and Plat (platoon i guess) What does it mean for this group when you see by example 1 Coy 2 Plat ??? Please it makes me nervous to not understand this

Coy = Company
Plat = Platoon

your example - 1 Coy 2 Plat ??? = 1st Company 2nd Platoon

here is a useful list that shows how most armies can be broken down into component parts, the number of men and the usual rank of CO for each of its parts. (it varies from army to army and era to era)

Army = 2 or more Corps 100,000 to 150,000 - Field Marshal or General
Corps = 2 or more Divisions 25,000 to 50,000 - General or Lt. Gen.
Division = 3 or more Brigades or Regiments 10,000 to 15,000 - Lt. Gen or Maj. Gen.
Brigade[1] = 3 or more Battalions 1500 to 3500 - Maj. Gen, Brigadier or Col.
or -
Regiment[2] = 2 or more Battalions 1000 to 2000 - Col.
Battalion = 4 or more Companies 400 to 1000 - Lt. Col.
*Company = 2 or more Platoons 100 to 250 - Captain or Maj
*Platoon = 2 or more Squads 16 to 50 - 1st Lt.
Squad = 2 or more Sections 8 to 24 - Sgt.
Section = 4 to 12 men - Sgt.

in this game command structure is important so it pays to keep platoons from the same company together, the same goes for squads from the same platoon etc.

Once again thanks a lot ! i begin to know... The color links when you point an unit whith others concerned these relations between groups right ?
FlashBurn Aug 27, 2015 @ 9:01am
Yes. Color tells you good the communication and thus command control from high to lower. Green is good, yellow is so so, red is bad. This will effect how long it takes for a unit to respond to commands and how much command bar gets used. Keep them close is best. But somtimes you got to send a squad out somewhere on it own. But there is a down side.

ok...last question, what is the "group" unit (or squad) for ? i mean with telephone and cable you see ? How use it ? Maybe it is just for tactical map no ? or do you use this "group" during fights ? how ? please...
Not easy...

Telephone troops lay communication wire between units. They do so automatic and are rather important. Its best to keep them close to a platoon or company commander but maybe a tad back in better cover. I do use them to cover flanks of my infantry units. But they lay the wire automatic. You do not have to do anything and they generally do a good job of it. You can turn this off so they dont run around laying wire when in bad places. In which case they are just low firepower infantry. Half track telephone troops you do want to keep an eye on. THe half track when it lays wire has a habit of driving its fool self into trouble. Sometimes Ill stick this guy way out there in a quite area to link up far off units. Or simply turn off AI command and use it as mobile MG to cover things.

I think you will enjoy this game.

It can be a little confusing at first, I found it so, however If you need any help there is usually someone here ready to assist. Also there is a very useful community guide full of valuable information that can be found via the 'Guides' tab at the top of this screen.

Good luck with your first campaign : )

One more question please !
It's ok for me understanding level command, but what is the little "antenna" or "feeler" wich are appears sometime onn units during fights, sometimes blue, yellow, red ? See what i mean ?

jetez un oeil à le guide

Comms icons + Comms icons - animated symbols sections
It is in English but will explain the comms icons.

icônes de communication affichent automatiquement le type d'interaction:-
voix / téléphone / radio; les couleurs montrent la réception et l'état.
Si vous avez besoin d'aide avec la traduction me demander et je vais essayer :)

Ok, i will try to read this so long text in english.. Very hard game in difficult.
I'm in my second campaign and germans give me a lesson each fights. I don't really understand why...Sometimes platoons don't answer to orders with commander by their side..(?) Thank you for your help you gave me, i keep my eyes now with "Guides" wich seems to be complete (and long)
GG all you

Oui difficile à comprendre dans une autre langue.

Ok thanks again. I'll tell you if i've a problem with translation.
I will go to the end with this game wich is very well done and realistic. But it's true, sometimes units do strange actions.
The key of this game i guess is in placing units on tactical map. They must keep in a good communication between them.
I'll tell you the result of my campaign. Now, after 3 fights, i'm in a minor defeat. It should be worst.
Bye

Ceci est un bon jeu, mais il aime à rouer de coups les débutants. Vous pouvez vous attendre à perdre quelques fois ..... Bon chance ;)
