The Lost Crown suddenly crashes on launch after working great all week
After having a great time playing The Lost Crown for the last week or so (including yesterday), I was really looking forward to playing it again tonight. However when I clicked that big green "PLAY" button in Steam, instead of opening the game or the Ubisoft Game Launcher, after a few seconds that "PLAY" button just reappeared as though I had closed the game. It seems to have been trying to launch but then crashed before displaying the Ubisoft Game Launcher; no error messages were visible either. Interestingly, Ubisoft Game Launcher works just fine by itself when I launch it directly, although it just prompts me to login.

Things I've tried so far:
- Reboot the PC
- Verify integrity of game files
- Launch Steam as administrator
- Launch TheLostCrown.exe as administrator
- Disable Steam game overlay
- Uninstall & reinstall Ubisoft Connect & Ubisoft Game Launcher
- Disable Windows Defender real-time protection, controlled folder access, and all the other features in there (I don't have another antivirus)
- Windows Update
- Update video drivers
- Uninstall & reinstall the game itself

No matter what I do, the Windows Event Log has the following "Application Error" in the application log for each time I've tried to launch the game:

Faulting application name: UbisoftGameLauncher.exe, version: 162.0.11687.0, time stamp: 0x67c869cb
Faulting module name: UbisoftGameLauncher.exe, version: 162.0.11687.0, time stamp: 0x67c869cb

There's also another entry right after this one from "Windows Error Reporting" containing the following

And also a whole bunch of "attached files" which I've omitted.

Let me know if there's any info I can provide to help with any other investigation that might be necessary.

My problem was in yesterday's Steam beta update.
I switched back to latest stable release (March 12) and that was it.

I was going to post a message too.
When I launch the game, I only have the splashscreen of steam saying to me the game s launching and the it close.
I have only do a check file to test but it seems you have done more test and the issue is from Ubisoft :/
Ah, okay. I appear to be having this issue as well.
The game will not launch for me either
Whoa, this just happened to me too. I can't run the game. Same thing occurs as described by OP when clicking the green 'Play' button. Will update this if that changes.

Wonderful game this is too! Looking forward to when I am able to play it again.

Same problem since today

Same problem.... Could it have something to do with the new assassins creed? The moment I preloaded it, the game doesn't start up at all.

I do not have Assassin's Creed and I still cannot open my Prince of Persia TLC, beginning this morning, if that helps.
This happens to me as well and tried all those things.

Fixed regression in yesterday's Beta Client which could cause some Steamworks enabled games to fail to initialize.
New Steam Beta update. Looks like our case.

Yep, it was due to Steam beta, which I'd totally forgotten I was even participating in. Open Settings -> Interface -> Client Beta Participation -> change to "No beta chosen", now POPTLC works as before. Credit to Firmar for figuring it out!
Mine appears to be working as of this morning! I did not change anything. And yes I believe I have been participating in Steam Beta.
