Ubisoft Account?
But why? The Rogue Prince of Persia does not require one! This title would be perfect for Steam Deck if it didn’t require it. I bought this on Nintendo Switch a few days ago and there i can play it without one. Talk about unfair…
I don’t see too big a reason why it should be here too because The Lost Crown is a 100% offline title,
For a 100% offline titles such as this and one that is going to be played on Steam Deck alot by many of us it should not be required. The only way to make it happen is to wish upon a shooting star or if Ubisoft somehow listens to our frustration.

TL;DR: Single Player game, Not fair for us, Breaks alot on Steam Deck and should be optional because of its features
It’s primarily the Launcher i have the most problems with, Not the Account.

The Rogue Prince of Persia isn't developed by Ubisoft, but by Evil Empire, a non Ubisoft studio.

The Lost Crown has been released January 2024.

I don't think the difference between Rogue and Lost Crown lies in that distinction. There are other games developed by non-Ubisoft studios they published which still require an Ubi-account. As far as I know, Rogue not requiring DRM or an Ubisoft account is an absolute first in a decade for the publisher.

Unfortunately knowing Ubisoft, there's little chance they'll draw the right conclusions from that experiment. :clickbutton:

South Park: The Stick of Truth (2014), Grow Home (2015), and Grow Up (2016) all do not require their launcher. So it's more like 8 years but close enough to a decade, I guess. Rogue definitely seems to be an exception which I'm really glad to see. There's no reason for a game like this to force another launcher to login to.

I think it's might be because those came out before the launcher was a thing. Thankfully it wasn't added as a requierment afterwards.

Thanks for the detailed additional info! I always seem to forget Grow Up and Grow Home as I have a hard time identifying them as a Ubisoft product. :clickbutton:

The Ubisoft PC client started as the "Ubisoft Game Launcher" back in 2009, though.

No, the launcher was definitely a thing before those games came out. Those were games I had purchased back then while being pleasantly surprised to see they didn't have the launcher. For example, Far Cry 3 (2012) required Uplay (now known as Ubisoft Connect) and I hated it.

Too many to list here. Feel free to check the list on the wiki: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ubisoft_games

If it doesn't wotk on Steam Deck without hassle, they can keep it.

If it does work and still requires an account, remember to leave a negative review.

The fact that you linked the wikipedia article of their games since 1986.
Not every single game requires the Ubisoft account.

Thats right. Titles such as Rayman Origins and Grow Home can be played without one or the launcher. I intended this thread as a message that Ubisoft Connect is a problem especially for Steam Deck, not to start arguments. This message likely wont reach Ubisoft but its worth trying

Never said or implied that. I think you replied out of context. I was replying to another poster which asked me which games published by Ubisoft and developed by studios not owned by them needed the launcher.

Far Cry 2 login is no longer available, plus the game was before Uplay existed.

Scott Pilgrim was released twice, requiring a ubisoft account both times.
