There is no reason for this game to require Ubisoft Connect.
Right now the game is completely unplayable because ubisoft connect services are down. For some reason offline functionality of the client is also broken.

Agreed. Finally had a night free to play again and can't play the game I bought because an unnecessary launcher can't communicate with an unnecessary external service. I was willing to give Ubisoft another try based on the strength of this title but they're proving what scrap of warmth I had was misplaced.

Helluva game; pity about the publisher

Hey guys,

Thank you for kindly taking the time out to reach out, sorry to hear that you encountered trouble with Ubisoft Connect.

To rule out some common causes I have some tips I would advise trying below:

- Try to have both the game and Ubisoft Connect and Steam on the same drive
- Add Ubisoft Connect and the game to your anti-virus/firewall whitelist
- Complete the steps in our dedicated troubleshooting guide [ubi.li]
- Ensure you have Ubisoft Connect [ubi.li] installed and updated

Should you have any further trouble, just let us know and we will be more than happy to help

More chances given to Ubi = more incentive to keep their Launcher
I hate ubi connect with a passion. I want to play a single player game and cant even start it because this stupid launcher cant connect to ubi servers. Especially on steam deck this should not be an issue.

This should have been a huge success, but was hugely mis-managed:
- epic-store exclusive
- 3rd party account
- easily 50% over-spent on budget (including marketing)

I had the previous Ubisoft DRM brick my Steam version of The Forgotten Sands, so unless it is removed, purchasing The Lost Crown would be paying Ubisoft without getting the game.

I guess, I should get used to not owning Ubisoft games and Ubisoft should get used to not getting my money.

Hi Romero | Crust33f! I'm sorry for the delayed response and to hear that Ubisoft Connect can't connect to the servers. Could you please let us know whether this issue is still ongoing, which game you're trying to launch, and if you're playing on Steam Deck? Thanks so much for your patience.
Is Connect still down or is the launcher not loading normal.

Hi surplus_newt! I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with Ubisoft Connect, is The Lost Crown not launching for you? Could you please let me know whether you're encountering any error messages? Thank you ☺️

bro, just remove the ubisoft launcher from the game, nobody wants it, please tell your bosses that we don't want an unnecessary launcher in such a beautiful game, things like save cloud you can manage it with steam itself.

As a fan of the Sands of Time games and Metroidvanias I wanted to give it a chance and try the demo months ago, but the demo REQUIRES that stupid extra launcher. This is an absolutely brain dead approach and pushes people away from even trying it out. So I didn't try it and also won't buy it on Steam until it is decoupled from that stupid extra launcher.

Having to install software who's job is to deny access to the game unless a non-zero set of checks all pass, each and every time, is mind bu**ery right from the get-go. I mean - why, if we want to play a game, would users want to install manipulative spyware to begin with? It's madness.
I would've bought this game day 1, at full price but I have no intention to use Ubisoft Connect. Ubisoft keeps shooting themselves in the foot and then make pikachu face when their games do not sell.

Wish they would get rid of it as well, tbh, I'm just not buying anymore of their games, as it feels like they're about to go bankrupt or lose their company, then what happens to all the games that require ubisoft connect.

How do you install this to Steam Deck? Do I just click install like any Steam Game and the game will install UbisoftConnect directly?
Reason is there are many vids on YouTube telling me to install UbisoftConnect manually, then install the game under Ubisoft launcher

Edit:
Reason I asked, is I don't wanna f**k up my SteamDeck if I did it incorrectly or something.
