The Dev's even put up a Guide on how to get it working on Steam Deck, Wanna know what could make it Steam Deck Verified and work out of the box? Not making it require the Launcher.
At that point, I'd just play Metroid Dread first. But yeah, Ubi launcher sucks.
Can anyone recommend a good, recent Metroidvania game like this one in its place that isn't infested with garbage or priced at 2x what it should probably cost?
That studio didn't close at all.
The last couple I finished:
Minishoot Adventures:

A unique genre-bending mix of top-down Zelda, metroidvania and twin-stick shooters. Loved this game. Don't let the lame name put you off XD
The Messenger:

It's an older game now, but I only discovered it recently. The 8-bit look is overused these days, but the gameplay and sharp controls is fantastic.
it did not, the team that worked on this game, a team with in Ubisoft Montpellier has been disbanded and sent to other projects with in Ubisoft Montpellier.

Ubisoft Montpellier has not been shut down.
