Keyboard - Controller drunk switch

Today's not a happy day for me and I'm hurt that a game as sweet as Shelter made me mad. So, I was playing some games with an X360 controller (wireless). I finish playing, unplug everything, the controller stops existing on the PC. I launch Shelter, go in game, I'm spawned 10 meters away from an eagle and... I can't move. And nothing I press does anything save the arrow keys. One of my baby Lynx dies and I check the options menu: The game decided to switch the layout to controller because it ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ well wanted to.
I'm sorry, I don't swear, I don't like swearing, but I'm just angry. I hope this helps in some way. I tried to be as detailed as possible.
