That creepy "fog"

I don't know if it had already been posted yet but ... You know that moment in the starter area, when everything goes dark and there's that stressful music, and there's this dark "fog" ? How do you call this phenomenon, what is it actually supposed to be ?! It's creeping me out !

Yep. -rabbit looks for hours and hours and hours, making sure there's no predators; thinks it's safe and starts eating- "NO NO!!! PLEASE NO!!! AGHHHHHHH!"

Btw, I think the blob is actually just nighttime, and the blobby part is the scent/sight range of a lone wolf. And the reason I think no one sees it so often now, is because of the DLC, I've had almost 18 generations (yes I know that's a lot, so far I've had over 50 gens) since I got the DLC, and I haven't seen the blob yet.

I've had the DLC since I started playing and haven't seen the blob a single time, through all my generations. Did the DLC take it out or something? Reduce the frequency? I've always wondered. Some people have encountered it multiple times in one generation and I'm kind of jealous. I want to see the big scary blob!

It seems to happen more often in the lake area. I finally saw it again in that area.

Has any one heard gun shots while in the so called 'fog'? I just did, and I've never experinced this. I have gone through the game countless times. I've never heard any wolf howl while in the fog either. Just gun shots. After that, I ran straight to my den, since I was afraid for my cubs... though this is my first time playing on survival, so... maybe there's hunters on this mode?

Oh! I was also in the starting area, hunting phesants around the mountains.. or somewhere near when you're at the end of the game and find a mate or something... anyways, It was spring when the blob or fog popped up, though I think one of my cubs were going to starve. Luckily none died.

what this dark thing really is,it's The Lonesome Fog,you can go in it but your sight will be shortened,if your cubs are out of sight for to long, they will be killed!

Pretty much when you leave your cubs alone in the fog one will die. your other cub was starving. thats why it couldn't walk. you need tobring food to your laying down cubs right away or they will starve to death..
