I thought this is a Co-op animal survival game.
To my disappointment, this game is not what I thought it is. There are so many stone age / zombie survival games out there such as Minecraft, Rust, DayZ, that I am bored of those crafting games already, and I have been wanting to see an animal survival game, where players assume the roles of various animals, from monkeys, lions to birds and butterflys! I wish some company out there would really make a game like that.

Who knows? Maybe co-op could be eventually added.

I think it'd actually take a lot away from the atmosphere if you were to add other real players, oddly enough. I agree that most games come to life with co-op or multiplayer, but I kind of just want to be lost in the environment and the soundtrack of a game like Shelter.

Then you should play by yourself, but you shouldn't say that a game shouldn't have a option for co op just because you won't use it.

I think that if they do multiplayer they have to use an animal that focuses on groups. Having a Tiger, linx, or badger game would make little sense....however if they moved to wolves, lions, deer, elephants, hyeena, or ducks then multiplayer would make sense all of these animals rely on their family to survive. I think hyeena would be perfect for the atmosphere, They are tough predetory animals but they aren't by any means highest on the food chain in their area of the globe.

Games like Journey and The Endless Forest can be played online, and direct player communication is not possible in them for this very reason. The devs took it away in fear of seeing the ambiance and idea ruined. In Journey it worked very well. The Endless Forest I didn't play long enough to be able to judge.

I must say the subtitle of this game may have been chosen a bit unfortunate. "Don't Starve Together" is being made and has been featured on the store frontpage recently too, and if you read "Survive Together" here for Shelter 2 one may think it's a co-op game. I don't really mind, but I suspect there is a niche another game or perhaps a Shelter 3 could try to fill.

That is what I was thinking as well.

Calling a game lame just because it wasnt something you enjoyed isnt fair to the devlopers or to those who enjoy the game. The fact that they were able to make a second game should count for something as most games that narrow minded people call lame dont get a second chance.

According to your preferences, you may be interested in the game "Tokyo Jungle". The only thing this gismo was published exclusively for the Play Station 3. However, it's gameplay might be rather interesting for you and the others, who want to see something... different.
